Supporting the learning styles of your students
Why is it important to provide approaches and resources that complement the learning styles of your students?
It is important to provide approaches and resources that complement all of the learning styles to be able to keep all of your students focused and ingauged in thier learning.
Hi Meagan, Thanks for your post to the forum. You put it very well - by teaching to all the learning styles "we level the playing field for the students". Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

We need to asses learnign styles of each student and provide material in the approriate manner. By using several different methods of delivering content we level the playing field for the students. If someone is a visual learner and we are delivering content all via lecture with visual aids that student may become lost.
Hi Antonio, Thanks for your post to the forum. It really is amazing how few students are aware of their preferred learning style! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

allows the students to be able to comprehend the class material. by introducing the students and estableshing a conection from the begining of the class, you open a door of comunication were the student feel comfortable and willing to learn.
It keeps all students involved in the material being taught when we are supporting the different learning styles. This leads to a great learning enviroment and higher retention rates. Students have more fun and are actively involved in the class.
Hi Deborah, I agree the more we vary our delivery, the better we address diverse learning styles. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

It is advantageous to provide various present modalities to students. Using this approach insures that the material is covered and engages largest number of students, thereby addressing any number of learning styles they bring to the class.
Hi Ryan, Thanks for your post to the forum. That is indeed the key - being able to adapt our delivery to accomodate the learning styles of our students.

Everyone learns differently. Think of yourself and how best you learn. Then think of your studetns -- make sure you are varying it up and hitting all types of learning styles to achieve maximum learning from your students.
Learning is more meaningful and better retained when a student's learning styles are considered.
It is important to provide approaches and resources that complement the learning style of my students so that they get the most out of the course. For example, if I am in foreign territory with what I am teaching, then the students themselves might be in foreign territory. It is better to use what I know and adapt to their learning styles.
It enables me to be a more productive teacher, in helping the students achieve there career goals
By learning the styles of our students it will help to improve the conditions under which the student will most likely learn more and retain better information which promotes career achievement
Hi Veora, Thanks for your post to the forum. That's exactly it- if we addres all the learning styles as we create our lesson plans, our students benefit! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career! Susan

I think it's important because it allows them to feel like they can easily grasp the information if the information is given with different learning styles in mind. It can also challenge your students. For ex. a visual learner performing a tactile project. It allows each student to bring out their best if you provide opportunities/projects/assignments that incorporate each learning style.
Students learn more efficiently through their own learning styles. They will be able to understand and remember the new information better if they have used their own style. Each person has their own prefered way of gathering information and processing it. If a teacher is aware of the styles of their students, they can provide activities that meet those needs and the students will be able to learn quicker and retain information longer.
Hi Samer, Thank for your post to the forum. i think that this would be especially effective if they could use programs that they would be using in their career fields.

I think one other way to help my students for a better understanding is to use and involve some type of technology to approach/solve the examples and the practice problems (i.e. Minitab, Excel software's). This is used in a Statistic course.
