Hi Caren - welcome to Ed 103! Your field does indeed foster creativity and so you are always challenged to offer such opportunities to your students. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career! Susan

Supporting my student's learning styles helps me to deliver the best quality of education to reach all of them. A small per cent of them don't have the most ideal learning style for an online classroom. An Example might be a kinesthetic learner. For those people or anyone really it's important to provide diverse projects that will utilize their style. It's equally important to realize that they must adapt their learning style to the online environment and become adaptable!

The culinary field is one that thrives on creativity. This creativity stems from a variety of sources. To encourage our students' different learning styles, and to offer them a variety of ways to learn, we enable them to build creatively onto the field. When we utilize a multitude of teaching techniques we empower our students and motivate them to learn more in whatever way works for them. This is the best conduit of creativity.

Because it will yield benefits such as efficient learning and student success. Using different approaches and resources also strengthens the instructor's teaching strategies. Knowing the various learning styles of your students makes instructors more effective.

Because we all grow up with different learning styles its important to be able to reach everyone using all available resources and learning techniques.

It's important to provide information in a variety of ways to maximize the potential for student learning. If students in a class have a variety of learning styles, a teacher will be most effective if all styles are addressed.

Hi Ian - I so agree! Once students know their learning styles they will be empowered to study in ways that will be more effective. Also they will recognize and appreciate when your delivery style deliberatly matches their style.Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career! Susan

To help students achieve at their highest level or, at the very least, remove barriers to their ongoing success.

Hi Wendy - Any ideas on how to deal with a student who can't read the homework asighment? That's a real problem! Any ideas from anyone else? Thanks for your post. Best wishes - Susan

Because each student is an individual with different learning styles. If you don't change things up you'll lose much of your class and the instruction you think they are getting, they are not! I found this recently when I approached a student about his homework. He never does it because he can't stay focused enough to read the material and to write it down. He collects the information from my verbal instruction and demo. He actually does pretty well! Most of my students do well by writing and rewriting the information they need for the day.

It is important to work with students on his or her learning styles. Most students are not aware of learning styles and their own preferences. It is great to bring this topic to their attention to help students seek out ways to improve their learning. Students knowing their strengths and weakness' is very important for them to retain information and be able to recall it later.

I think its important because we all learn differently, if we have to proper tools to learn and progess the more information we will reatain as well as learn and use as a foundation for the next task to master or acheive.

Hi Ryan - you are using active learning which gets your students to really participate in their learning rather than maintaining a passive role. Great work! Best wishes - Susan

because every student has different challenges in learning it is important to give lessons with visual aids

My students like to "connect the dots". I demonstrate a product. They do a report on the product and a light goes on. The students learn how it all comes together.

It is only by supporting diverse learning styles that the instructor effectively teach the concepts of the course to the whole class. Fortunately, the most difficult learning style to incorporate into a lesson plan is the hands on learning style, which is easily done at my school since we teach culinary arts.

It is very important because different approaches and resources taylored around your students learning styles make it easier and they will retain more of the information given ending with higer test scores.

because i want my students to be successful. whether its learning by reading ,watching, doing,or listening i support them and offer them encouragment.
