On of the many things that I have done to enhance the classroom environment is to have industry pictures(from magazines and books) of the items that the students will be doing,
I then take out photos (from my own notebook) of the same dishes from previous classes/students over the years and explain to them that the quality of work expected from the class is do-able and they are able to do just as good and even surpass that quality.
Students find it a challenge to compete in a fun way to showcase their talents and in turn come in more motivated to surpass their previous work.
I have found that they always want their photos in the notebook. They regularly come back to check on the quality of the classes behind them and have a fun banter with me about their work.
Hi Errol!
Sounds like the rooms in your school are ready for school learning. What things do you think that you could add or have added to further enhance learning?
Keep up the good work!

I start early and make sure all the equipment and lessons are ready and working correctly. I set up the lab and get the pages ready in my books and then the PowerPoint set up and ready. I also go over with the class what they are to do step by step and ask them to repeat back to me what they understand they are to do.
Outstanding Steve!
You are connecting students to their learning environment which can initiate classroom discussions.
Keep up the good work!

The room is set up in a horseshoe style with related pictures and posters on the walls supporting the material being taught, the wall paint scheme is painted in the manufactures colors, very soothing colors. We have training components on tables to support the material being taught, the students also have hands on access to the training aids and are encourged to use them and ask questions if they missed something. The visual projectors are all out of the way of the students view and the class room p/c's are facing the wall so the student can't access them during lecture or review time. We don't have access to bright sun light in the classroom, that would be nice to have.
The tables are set up in a U shape where all the students can easily see the white board, myself as I present the lessons and each of their classmates. The room is filled with subject related posters, banners and charts. The classroom is well illuminated and the walls are painted with the color scheme of the company that sponsors the program.
Hi Steve!
Think about a library where the environment meets students' needs and where we can find information needed for work or pleasure. Libraries are comfortable, multiple learning environments. A visitor may find the resource materials in one area, magazines/periodicals in another, fiction and non-fiction in another area. Libraries have colorful posters and learning resources strategically displayed throughout the library. Then you have the children's section!
The point is instructors can do the same thing in their classroom. I've often used different corners of the room as learning resource centers with a different topic in each center. Various colorful posters - including those things that students have done - can be hung throughout the room.
My feeling is if the information applies to the topic and creates a fun learning environment, students' will be excited about learning.
So - what do you think that you will do to enhance your classroon environment?
Keep up the good work!

i try to maximize the size of the room according to the number of students. ie: this class is small so i folded up the extra tables and removed unused chairs. i like starting the day with a positive quote and i always write the daily activity on the board before the class arrives. we have plenty of posters throughtout the room deplicting the industry.
Several things I use are, placing related component s on a bench in the center of the room, writing a qoute on the board to stimulate discussion or haveing hand out material avalible on the students desk/table.
Have any additional materials ready such as a extra pencil, note paper, lab materials set up and the days objectives listed on board.
