Hi Anece!
Isn't it about ensuring that all students are treated equally or at least feel like they are?
Keep up the good work!

Maybe and maybe not depends on how bad a individual desires what he wants.
For students that have certain challenges. Its a challenge just to be challenged by the challenger.
helping students with reading disabilities are challenging and it means a lot of your time which takes away from other students in their class time.+-
yes that is true but this is college as well and we are to help these students in every area that we can to motivate and cultivate these students ability to do more than they think. A lot of times and majority of times its all low self esteem. Somebody told them somewhere and somehow in their life that they were ignorant people.
A lot of students don't know how to read. They just start and go for 5 minutes. It helps if you can instruct them on active reading and note taking.
Hi Jason!
Could you expound on you technique a little more, please.
Thanks and keep up the good work!

i have a student with a speach impediment. I have her read out load and we both go over the pronunciation together.
Hi Anece!
I like the idea of reading together. I don't think it is as intimidating as reading in a group.
Good job!

Hi Anece!
I would encourage you not to scare a student by using the term research. For a student with reading challenges, using language that is less forceful can really be very helpful.
Keep up the good work!

Hi David!
Having this challenge yourself, what has helped you be successful?

i like to use concrete examples and engage the student in demonstrtions
I have reading challenges myself so by letting the student know that you know how they feel with this challege and that you are there to help them.
I give reading assignments and if they are struggling I always have tutoring avalible to them. The ones that I know for certain have reading deficiencie, I ask them questions and make sure they are doing well with comprehension.
Having a student to read aloud or someone to read that they may understand the reading literature and that will help them progress to spend time to read a little more.
By giving research assignments in particular subject.
If a student has reading problems I will give an oral test.
i deal with a lot of students with language barriers and they often try harder than english speaking students,[not always but more often].i can usually talk them into coming in for small group tutoring and this makes them more comfortable and they will open up and you can reach them and help on this level.
Hi Jeffrey!
A great approach! What's your strategy for getting their feedback - class discussion. . . . . . . ?
Good job!
