feedback gives the instructor a 2nd and or 30th point of view.
By listening to student feedback and making changes accordingly, you make them co-owners of the learning environment. This practices reinforces that they play an important role in their learning of everyone in the room. Reinforces ownership, accountability, and driving personal growth.
Hi Maria,
By getting and using student feedback you are going to get a clear picture of your instructional efforts. This will enable you to expand your abilities and expertise as an educator each and every time you teach a class.

Feedback in my opinion is a form of constructive criticism. Never a bad thing, it is a way for me to better myself. So when I get feedback from students, it gives me the oppurtunity to realize what my stundents really need or possibly want. Maybe even positive reinforcement to my students and I that my students are learning and doing well.
I am so new at teaching I welcome and encourage feed back. I know the material from my profession but I still need to learn to teach others. I ask my students what they think and I could improve my teaching style.
Hi Stacey,
Well said. Without it you are hoping to improve your instructional delivery, with it you can target your improvement areas so you will know that you are on target to help your students learn more effectively.

It gives you a sense of what is working and what isn't. Without this feedback, you may think you're students are grasping what you are teaching, but in reality, they may not be understanding the material. Feedback helps me guide how I am going to teach my classes.
by relizing their weak areas and not focusing on what you think is their weak areas, making bad perseptions
It can find out what areas they are grasping and move onto other areas not covered. That way they won't get bored.
I agree, even a quick, informal, survey can help you understand what is helping your students, and what is not. You can then take that information you have gained to revise your teaching methods.
Hi Dara,
Good examples of how we can use student feedback to our benefit. By being willing to take the feedback and see improvement our instructional abilities will continue to grow.

Student feedback can show us where we, as instructors, have succeeded as well as where we need to refocus our energy and efforts with individual students. Additionally, student feedback allows instructors to self-evaluate and make adjustments in our teaching methods, plans, activities, demonstrations, and material presentation formats.
I think it's easy to get in a rut when teaching, and forget that just because you are covering the necessary material, there may be adjustments that are necessary. Sometimes I get so focused on covering the material; feedback from the students helps me reexamine what I've been doing. If there are things that they have really responded to positively, I can incorporate them more. Conversely, I can edit classes that haven't been as successful and think of more engaging ways to present the material so the students get the most benefit.
this helps you the instructor to re-evalute how can you get better and give a better understanding of the lectures, and to asses your self how to improve the material at hand
the instant feedback shows the student that I am watching them closely and commenting on their strenghts or weaknesses will only show that I am going to help them get to their goal.
Hi Kathryn,
This is how instructional improvement occurs. We need to always be on the look out for ways to become better instructors. The result of improvement is better instruction, happier students and more satisfaction on our part.
Gary
I think student feedback is a great idea. I don't like it sometimes when I hear it but it does help keep things in perspective. You can think you are doing a really good job on something and get some feedback that says otherwise and then you know what you can change about yourself and your way of teaching. This can only have a good outcome, don't you think?
I like student feedback. This helps me focus on how to meet the needs of my students as well as improve my future insturcting skills.
Student feedback can help keep your students focused because it will allow them to engage in conversation. Your feedback as an instructor can also encourage the student to remain focused because they value your opinion.
Hi Linnie,
This is a good way to keep up with your students and their perspective on the class. You can make adjustments that might be needed by having the information at midterm rather than at the end of the course.
