I think as an instructor it is very important to interact with each and every one of my students. It shows that I care about each of them as an individual and hopefully opens up the lines of commnunication between myself and the student. I think they are more apt to come to me with concerns/ problems etc. I also think that it allows me to "read" each student by getting to know their personality.

It is essential to interact with each and every student not only to make them feel like they're "in the club," therefore diminishing his or her insecurities, but also to get to know each student for who they really are. This builds trust and respect in the student-instructor relationship, and also makes a student understand that the instructor is on their side. Making this connection is essential to the student's individual success as well as to the success of the class and instructor. When your students know you as a person and not just as a teacher (and vice versa), they will try harder for you since they believe you are truly invested in their success.

I very much agree it is important to develop a rapport with your students. Once it is established then I have found the students are more interactive and eager in the learning process.

Interacting with every student helps establish a rapport. In addition, students will feel comfortable sharing information and participating in class. I feel that when students have a good rapport with their instructor, it helps with their learning and academic success.

Fortunately, I truly enjoy meeting & getting to know people. Building a (professional) relationship with each student helps them to see that I care about them & their success.

Hi Class,

Interacting with your students shows you care about them. It helps me learn the different types of learning styles each student has. Student's will feel that they made a good choice of coming to school. It can help a student feel more motivated.

There will always be talkative students and silent students. I find that if I try to talk to all of my studnets personally weather in the hall or after class (most importantly the silent ones) I am showing them that I see them as an individual. It also helps to make them be responsible to an instructor that takes the time to see that they are in class and doing their work.

By interacting with your students ,one should be able to keep control over upcoming, unforseen class and personal problems among the students. It also gives me an insight to the student personality that might aid me to help the student in the right direction.

It's important because it shows the students that you really care about them and what's going on in their lives.

I believed that interacting with student helps to build a teacher-student relationship

It helps students to know that you are aware of them, and that they are important. This also helps to build rapport with students, which can lead to them asking for your help or letting you know of a concern later. This also will help the student feel more comfortable in the class room and more willing to participate in class.

Interacting with students gives you the human or person factor that the student may think you may not have because you are the authority within the classroom. The instructor must relate to the students on some level in order to open dialogue within the class. No student shall be left out of the interaction because your goal is to have all your students succeed.

Hi LaWandra,
Awesome! We have to be our students biggest cheerleader! Continue to cheer them on with the highest praise to help them reach their goal.

Developing a rapport with students is a good idea. It allows the students and instructor to become more comfortable with each other. Having a connection with ones students can reduce anxiety and make learning more fun.

I think building a relationship with a student is very important. It allows room for the student to grow and give you their best while under your leadership.n They know that someone is paying attention to them and that they matter.

I have often been showered with words of praise from students that I least expected. Just by giving them words of praise, inspiring them, encouraging and challenging them to excel higher than expected....

Hi LaWandra,
Building a relationship with students is very important. Students trust you and will not want to disappoint you when you have established a relationship with them. They will work hard due to your relationship with them.

It is very important to interact with every student. Reason being is that they are all different, unique and has different learning abilities.

Interacting with students allows the instructor to establish a one on one relationship with ea other, it helps an instructor to learn the personalities of the students, possibly their strengths and weakness and can help determine what group a student would best be a part of.

And it allows room for growth in each individual for the class room setting as well as a social enviroment when communicating and interacting with others.

If a student does not feel that the instructor cares about him (or her) then the student will not care about the class. The student will have the attitude of "why should I care if no one cares about me?". That is a tough hole to get out. I know that from experience.

Interacting with students helps you to get to know them and vice versa. It also shows you are interested in them as individuals and want them to succeed.

I think interacting with the students helps the student to relax so they can be comfortable. This helps with the communication between myself and the student. This helps the student to build a rapport with me but also helps them to start to trust me so, if something personal comes up the student usaully will confide in me. The bottom line is interacting with the students helps them to know they are not alone on this journey.
