It is important to assess each student's learning style to guide your class lectures, demonstrations, skills practice, etc. Also very important is discovering possible obstacles to learning such as transportation, child care, and family responsibility issues. These are not always addressed in the admissions process at the school. They may impact attendance and thus keeping up with the course material.

Interacting wih each student provides a opportunity to know each student. Knowing each students allows the instructor to teach the student according to their individual need, understand learing style, be able to give praise when jobs are well done , and be able to identify weakness and assistance needed

It is important to have interaction with every student because every student deserves the same chance. As an instructor you cannot just interact with the students who participate in class, otherwise the quiet students will feel like they are not liked or that you do not care if they pass or fail.

I make it a point to keep track of how my students are doing and if they seem withdrawn I ask them if they want to stop by my office in the next couple of days and talk. most of the time they are there by the end of the day.

I have an open door policy and I encourage all my students to stop by my office at any point even if it is just to pop their head in and say hi.

Students require the need to fit in. I make it a point to interact with all my students daily. I see my class, and make it known, as a "mini town". I lead the class and rely on eveyone to do their part in making the day a success. Therefore interaction is key. I encourage students to speak up in class as we move from topic to topic. I want to know where they are and any difficulties they encounter. The frequent interactions also sets the pace of my presenting the material.

With no student interaction you will not know for sure how well the student is retaining the information you have given him. He may also feel that you do not care about him or his input to the class. This could cause him to withdraw emotionally from the class and get little or nothing from the class.

In my opinion the biggest reason to interact with every student is there is no other way to truly determine how they are doing in understanding material presented. They can also begin to feel their opinions or input to the class is not needed or wanted and set the student up for failure.

Interacting with students is very important. Every student should feel they are a part of the experience. They have paid good money, they want a better career, they want a better quality of life. The student comes in with the expectation that the instructor is there to help me, and if I have questions they will answer me. The instrutor should have a "feel" for each one of the students. They should be familiar with their behavior, study habits, and personality.

It is important in order to share goals and expectations. It allows me to assess the students and get to know where their strengths and weaknesses are.

Interacting with each student shows that you value them as individuals. Interacting may also reveal problems, and solutions to problems. If the instructor was distant and did not interact with his/her students, then he/she is most likely not happy with their job.

It is important to interact with every student to make sure that they understand what's required of them to achieve their goal of graduation.

Group practice is very important because it create long term memory.

Students earn confidence that all we are here to help students concerns.

by interacting instructor can make all point clear and students learn better.

interacting with every student is very important in order to resolve students problems, listen their concerns. Resolve the problems before problem goes to next level and by interacting earn students confidence

Hi Claudia,
Students feel more comfortable with you if you have built a relationship with them.

Hi ATUL,
You build relationships with students by interacting with them.

Patricia Scales

I think it is very important to have this because I feel that they are able to talk to you if any concern happens to take place with the class.

to know each other, earn confidence and share knowledge.

sharing before and after class in casual conversation goes a long ways to build trust, care and concern...

I have found it very beneficial to arrive to class a bit early and engage in casual friendly talk with students in the hallway or in the classroom....how are things going? any specific questions if I happen to have extra knowledge re a student they have shared with me- ie, showing that I care enough to seek followup re sick child, transportation issues, military spouse leaving or returning etc. Sharing caring attitude and approach goes a long way.
