that way we will have more control of the class
and we can manage the class so everybody learn at the same time and have a little bit of time to help those that stragling to keep up and understand by having control of the class you will be able to do that.
Hi Harshita,
Yes! We are our students role model, and we should always look and act the part of a professional.

IT is important because it helps in creating a positive learning environment in class as opposed to a casual "hangout" environment. I think it creates some seriousness and encourages professional behavior from students as well.
Maintaining a professional image is significant to our success as an instructors. Take time out of the first meeting to establish the standards/expectations of the class. Make them clear and follow through with then. Be on time and be prepared. It is so important to prep for classes. Be passionate and enthusiastic about what you do. Be a motivator. Leave personal problems out of the classroom. Be a mentor. Practice what we preach.

This is important if the instructor explained the classroom rules on the first day.
Maintaining a professional distance from students helps the instructor control of the class. This is especially important if the instructor explained the classroom rules on the first day.
Keeping a professional image in class lets the students know that I am not just talking it but living it. I talk about the importance of professionalism in the field and how much employers look at it.
Hi Christina,
You have it! I can tell you have established boundaries with your students. Our students really need more role models not more friends.

Hi Eric,
That's right! Boundaries must be established. Students need to know who is in control.

It is important to maintain a professional distance from students as part of class management so as to establish a sense of authoritative figure. This minimizes the possibility of this authority being diminished or boundaries being crossed.
You need to maintain a professional distance from students, so that they understand you are there to teach them not be their friend. Yes you need to be approachable otherwise students might be afraid to come to you with questons or conserns. If you become their friend they will begin to question their marks or why they need to do homework or assignments. They will not give you their best efforts. Also if you are always complaining about your home situation or other instructors, students might not want to come to your class because they do not want to hear about your life. They have their own issues they have to deal with.
Maintaining a professional distance is important because it is one of the two most important things that will earn the instructor respect of the students. The other is being knowledgeable about the subject.
Professional distance tells the students that the instructor is mature, knows what she/he is doing and is there to help the students and not to make friends.
Your professionalism is one of the main reasons you decide to go into teaching. Acting professional in your work environment is of the utmost importance. Befriending students shows that you cross the line of teacher/student relationship. Set the tone the first class, "I am here to pass on all the knowledge I can related to this topic." "I am not your friend, I am your knowledge giver."
It is imperative that you keep your "personal issues" at the door. Discussing personal issues will distract from class time and overall, students have their own issues to deal with. Instructors are not there to be friends but to be respected.
Maintaining a professional image will help the studnets and other faculty members take you seriously, which will help you gain respect. It comes down to walking the walk, and leading by example. You are showing your students what professionalism looks like so they can take that with them when they graduate.
Maintaining a professional distance and or image ensures that you can interact with the students without hesistation
I feel it is very important to maintain a professional image. Students respect you more and take you more seriously.
As an Instructor is important tht we be role models and project professionalism and genuine knowledge of the information we deliver. I like to be the expert in the subject I teach.
Hi Jeffery,
Yes, you have it! You can be professional, yet personable with your students. Balance is key.
