Maintaining a professional image with your students is ver important to the class room et. I tell the students that you care about being an teacher but most of all you care that the stusent is getting the best education and knowlege you can give to them

to avoid conflict of interest as well as maintaining respect on both parties.

its imperative that instructors maintain a professional image to their students because first of all, students need a role model to look up to on a professional level, why not their instructor? second, a fine line must be drawn between student and instructor. you are to educate and inspire not make friends. last, the whole aura of professionalism that you display sets higher standards for your students. teacher expectations become greater.

You should walk into the classroom from day one demanding respect from your students. You want them to know from day one you have knowledge in your field and you want to give them the knowledge you have. If they see you ass someone they can respect then you can establish a instructor student relationship.

always be willing to listen but dont include your personal problems. maintaining a professional image is important so you dont lose the respect of the students and arent used by the ones who will try to use you.

We are setting the example of what the expectations of the industry will be.

Maintaining a professional image is super important for our students because they are being taught to work in a professional atmosphere. Our students are being prepared to work in hosptials and have dealings and interactions with both family and medical staff. It is important to always be at your most professional in your words as well as your actions!

I think it helps the students know that you take their education seriously and the information you are teaching is important to their field. It also sets up boundaries with the students, so they know there are lines they can't cross with you.

An instructor has to make it clear that he is the expert and they are the students.

The instructor is the authority in the classroom, rather than another peer.

the instructor expects performance from all members of the class and plays no favorites.

maintaining a professional image is very important!once you show any indication of false pretence the students will see right through you,and you will loose respect, they will see you as a false person, and there expectations for the learning skills from you are washed away.you must always remember first time impressions are very important, your behavior, the way you dress, your hygene, the way you speak, how you listen, how you deliver the message for there expectations, and motivation to be successful.this is very important, also you must let the students know your there instructor and you do care, about them achieving to be successful.

Hi James,
That's right! We are not in teaching for a popularity contest. We are in the profession to change lives by sharing knowledge.

Hi David,
Absolutely! We must be the professional that we want our students to become.

Maintaining a professional distance from students is an important part of class management because you want to earn the respect of the student. If you try to become friends with the student, you will be doing the student a disservice. The student has come to college to learn from a professional, not a friend. Creating distance from students will allow the instructor to earn respect and maintain his or her leadership role.

Well put. They possibly feel like you might let them "slide" on some things, get mad when you don't and create a situation that will cast doubt on your integrity as a teacher.
