It is important for the instructor to be able to use the technology effectively. For example, how to use the discussion board, respond to students, and grade book. I would incorporate a orientation before the class begins so that expectations and procedures can be put in place before the class starts.
I found it interesting how many techniques and strategies are avaliable in this online course. I plan to practice the strategies needed to interact with my students.
As an instructor, it is important for me to understand the Course Management System that I am using. By doing so, I can provide students with the best learning experience possible.
There are interesting similarities between online learning and in-person instruction, namely the importance of getting to know students as individuals and establishing a rapport with them, and ensuring structural integrity, intellectual interaction, and active learner-centered instruction.
The instructor is key to the online course success. Teachers must know all aspects of the CMS and how to use in order to assist students. Students need an adequate oreintation to avoid frustration with the online course.
I will need to take a pd on the curriculum delivery platform that we will be using. The more expertise that I have on the platform mthe better I will be able to serve my students
I have learned that teaching online requires just as much (if not more) involvement with each individual student as opposed to the "group" as teaching in a face to face setting. The challenges can be met with proper planning and delivery. Orientation is crucial and directly related to the success of students as well as instructors.
I am thinking we as teachers are getting ready to perform elearning coming this fall 2020-21 school year.
Everyuthing here is an organized way to prepare for that event!
While this class is more for teaching college online classes and I am middle school teacher, the most important topic I learned was about tech support, and teaching the tech aspect of online learning. My district uses Google Classroom, but no one was required to use it until recently. Teacher training didnt take place prior, yet some teachers have learned to use on thier own. Some students have a working ability to use it, but with various levels, becuase it hasnt been consistant. Many parents have absolutly no experince with Google classroom, so that has been our biggest challenge. I would like to see my district to create learning opportunites for parents to get a bsic understanding of the website and the expected roles of the teacher, the student, and the parent, in this platform
Learned that being able to communicate with my students will not be as difficult as I had originally feared.
A lot of it has been review for me. But since I work with and help other instructors, it's good to get the feedback that we all deliver the content differently
The instructor must be able to navigate technical actions such as accessing rosters, etc. as well as be aware of strategies and methods of the course.
It is important to make sure students are aware how to use the online class platform. I will have to have a zoom meeting with students showing the workings of the platform.
Making sure that students are aware how to work the online system is important.
Tp make sure my students understand how to navigate and communicate with me and others during e-learning. Also to familarize myself with the platform before I statr helping sudents.
Even though we all have different experiences and teaching techniques, we need to make sure we understand cocepts, a flow of the lesson and how to keep students engaged in the learning .
I understabd that I need ti review my Teacher contract to ensure that I fully comprehend my roles and responsibilities as an online Instructor. Undertanding that some particulars should pay attention to such as paid and unpaid work times including if weekend work is necessary.
I found it to be important that I familiarize myself with the course content to make sure that I can answer any questions that my student may have
I feel it is necessary for the instructor to be as adept in using the CMS as the students. Students are asked to take an orientation to learn the CMS and I feel that instructors should as well. Before instruction begins the instructor needs to gain the confidence in giving support or directing students to Technical Support where necessary.
Instructors need to posess the three C's: Confidence, Communication and Course knowledge!
I was surprised by the amount of componets I will need to familarize myself with just to pick the best plateform for myself and my students. I will use the information to help me to chose a format that works with my teaching style andhas ease of lesson formating for my students.
