IN this section, I learned that I can project my presence by popping in and out of some class disccussion boards.

 

Get to know the students by name and call on them frequently.

 

I've learned that the tri-lateral approach that this module advocate is wholistic and that each part becomes vital at certain aspects of the online experience when teaching students:  projecting authority, projecting expertise and trust, and developing a conducive relationship that is steeped in educational pedagogy but tempered with compassion.

 

Various instructional stragies can help you  achive goals and a positive outcome regarding your students.

I learned how important it is to form relationships with your students.

One on one learning promote a meaningful learning experience.  Many students do not have the confidence to ask questions or for help in front of others.  The online learning platform allow students to communicate with teachers with confidence.  It is important that teachers enhance their knowledge by learning new things .

 

These are some great ideas for connecting with a student while not always having the face to face opp 

 I learned it is important for students to know you are qualified to teach them.  Building relationships is important to any learning environment. 

 

Students need to feel connected.

 

I learned that a teacher student relationship needs established day one. And that by being an active instructor influences whether my students will be successful.

I really enjoyed the idea of posting a bio of myself to establish my authority and professional background. I usually introduce myself to new students in the first zoom session of the course, but having a bio they can read regarding my credentials and experience. This would hopefully build the trust that is needed that the students are being taught by an instructor that knows their knowledge. I also liked the section about building the relationship with students. I used to assign an introduction letter the first day of class. I liked reading about them and their goals. I will be impletmenting the students biography assignment again. 

 

Gettting to know your students even from behind the computer screen can be difficult but it is necessary.

Getting to know the students through a general bio, and being able to access that information while teaching said student is a strong way of projecting my presence and maintaining that students engagement in an online forum.

Projecting presence is critical as well as how an instructor develops the communication.  With the range of students and how they choose to participate, an online instructor must use several means to reach students and encourage them to participate at an appropriate level to be an overall success in the course(s).

 

I learned about the importance of working to develop a realtionship with the students, which is very difficult for me when it comes to virtual classes.

 

Letting the students know a little about myself might  help them in wanting to also post something about them self for others in the course. Knowing common intrest  

 

Projecting a strong competent presence through various methods is important in an on line learning environment. This helps earn the students trust and keeps them comfortable in the learning process.

 

I learned about the importance of sharing your background with the students to build a better rapport.

I have learned how to project myself and be more present for my students.
