Feedback is a critical component in a student's learning...helping them to not only better understand the topic but it provides clear communication on how to better understand the topic.
I like the section on Peer Reviews because it is something I have never provdided in my classroom. With this upcoming year potentially being hybrid, I can think of a few ways in which I can make peer review interactive and fun.
Feedback is something that is needed and it must be timely in order for it to be effective
Rubrics should be detailed and graded from excellent to needs improvement with a correlating score.
assessments: formative, summative, self and peer assessments. Providing effective feedback gives the students valuable information to enhance their learning and performance in the course.
Assessments (formative, summative, peer, and self) should be designed with the learning objectives in mind. The assignment, test, project, etc. that are assessed should be graded based on a rubric that details the objectives and criteria, and rankings of the learning objectives. Students should be afforded an opportunity to edit and receive feedback prior to the final exam or project. Peer and Self-evaluation help in overall learning as it provides reflection opportunities and promotes agency. Finally, instructor feedback is helpful to the learning process when it is learning objectives-based, individualized, and positively stated.
Feedback is a means of providing positive reenforcement.
Developing Self and Peer Assessment
It is important to build in instructional opportunities for leaners meaningful to develop their capacities to provide feedback and make informed judgements. Involing learners in the assessment process.
Utilizxing a rubric for projects is very important, it gives the students a guideline for submitting, it helps them to organize their information, it also serves as a check off list making sure everything needed is done.
Rubics are very important becasue it details what the student put into their assignment and the grade expected. Feedback is also essential it may be an exit ticket or a self & peer assessment. This is the result if a student has retaind and learned the information or not.
The importance of focusing your feedback on providing information to increase learning instead of using your comments to justify the grade reonated with me. I didn't really think of it that way. Letting the rubric provide justification for the grade but my questions and feedback will encourage addtional oppourtunites to learn was great advice.
Clear metrics provided within a rubric provide specific objectives for learning.
Feedback, especially specific, personalized and whenever possible, verbal will aid in student learning.
Assessments are important part of student success as well as feedback that needs to be given in a timely manner.
I will use both formative and sumative assessments to help me understand the level of learning that is happening and to provide myself with feedback on how effective is my teaching.
Feedback is one of the most important tool int he learning process.Rubrics are also key in helpong students know what ius to be expected.
Providing meaningful feedback is essential to learners. Formal feedback is provided in conjunction with a rubric and more detail. Its purpose is to provide information to increase the knowledge and skills of the learner instead of your comments used to justify your grade.
It is necessary to have a well developed rubric to inform what is expected from the student on a assignment and what they have to provide in order to attain a grade that they may desire.
We learned about formative and summative assessments and how to use rubrics with those assessments. It is also notated that providing peer to pear and instructor to peer feedback is very important when used correctly. This helps improve learning.
I think that when using the peer-to-peer feedback or assessment it is important to introduce and explain the process to students prior to use. This can be a great tool and anothe ropportunity for collaboration and learning, but it shouldn't be the reason some students don't want to participate. Once students learn the process, it will become somewhat automatic each time it is used.
Feedback is crucial to student growth and rubrics can help guide this process immensely!! Rubrics provide for consistency and growth by making sure things are emphasized the same from an objective point of view. Self-assessments allow for relfection that will also improve student growth.
