A facilitor must have a student centered leaning which places the responsiblit for learnig in the students themselves. It helps the students become independent in thier learning and encourages participation and collabation.
I learned the importance of consistency in setting up courses and course modules to facilitae learning while reducing confusion. Also testing out course modules with an objective third party before launching and correcting issues will make the experience much smoother for students.
Instructors need to carefully evaluate technology tools and select technology tools that support the teaching and learning process.
An instructor must learn which techonolgy tools works best for his/her students and the level of the students knowledge of woking with techonolgy. I also learned that weekly or daily feedback is a very important component to learning and teaching and learning online.
There are a varity of technology tools avaialble to support online learning. It is important for the instructor to know what the different tools are and how they can support the learning outcome. It is also equally important to view the tools from the lens of the student and how they will interface with them - are they making the learning experinece better or confusing the objective.
The technology should support not hinder, instructors Must identify their teaching style and match with the technology tool.
continuously trying and accessing online teaching tools is an important step to figuring out what works well with the individual teachers teaching style.
Today's learning opportunites are varied and exciting giving learners opportunity to interact with the world in a myriad of ways.
It is important to assess why you are using a particular online learning tool. You can't simply use what is initially available. You must think about what you want to accomplish in the course, what kinds of activities students are going to do, how you are going to deliver instruction, and many other factors. Once you know what you want to accomplish and how you want to accomplish it, you can research online learning tools and implement the use of the ones most appropriate to the task.
It is important to identify the different types of learners in the classroom as soon as possible. This module was enlightening as it helped me understand the impact of different learners in the learning environment. I am encouraged to support all students in the best manner according to policies and shared understandings.
During this Moduale I have leanered that there are many differnt technology tools that can be used, but no matter what kind of instructor you are and no matter what kind of technogoly tool you use for your students you might need to change your approch to cater to all.
Having the proper tools an knowing how to use it properly and in the corr settings is important for student learning. Instructors should be aware of barriers to techn tools such as cost or access and learning styles to ensure students are benefiting from them.
I'm new to the technology choices that are available in this context, so I found the information very helpful. Use of the proper tools will help create a vibrant, engaging learning environment.
I learned that it is "okay" to not teach all the functions of a technology used in a class. It is important to carefully select the correct technology tool to support learning.
Choosing ther proper tools for the proper needs of the students.
Technology tools must be tried in order to determine what works for your teaching style. A summary evaluation is critical in order to see what work.
Using our LMS canvas, I think I will research a way to embed comprehension questions into voice over powerpoints that I may give as lectures.
What I got out of this module was that tech tools need to be matched with the instructor teaching style. There isn't a one size fits all answer. But that we're all capable to adjusting learning styles just as we can adjust tech tools because the more important part of the equation is that we can meet student learning outcomes (which I already knew was true).
I intend to apply the material by reflecting on my current class and how I can more effectively match the tools to my student needs. I've already determined that the ones I'm currently using are not always the easiest for students and impede their learning.
This module was a good reminder of the importance of critical reflection and examination of your own teaching style when determining what tools to use for your course. Just because your colleages are reporting that a specific tool works well does not mean it will work best for your specific course content, your student audience, or your own needs as an instructor.
After reviewing the module, It is clear that using multiple different technology forms is very importatnt. Research sources that seem to work best for your individual classes. Live chats are a great way to connect and students to be able to share their screen with you as well. Video is great, but sometimes just voice option helps students feel just as connected.
