Our school has a walking path near a creek where we take students on meditation walks which has helped both the students and the instructors to release some stress.
Monica,
Your secrets to reducing stress is often by you knowing what methods work best for you. Good for you! Some people have not found them yet.

I have been able to manage stress by reading and meditatating during lunch and break periods. One additional approach to stress management is doing a yoga exercise daily prior to work. These 3 techniques help to keep my stress level balanced.
Henry,
Making a situation more tolerable to an employee is important. Sometimes we know more than we can share.

I pull one of my friend's aside and talk to him and get a his take on the issue. We try to make light of the issue to defuse the stress.
Lawrence,
it is what you call controlling your destiny. You have to keep everything in perspective and allow for your goals and objectives to be clear in your mind, You can avoid side tracking by keeping between the curbs.

I think understanding and applying the basic worry equation of increased vulnerability and decreased power is really key. When we understand that we have a tremendous amount of power over worry and that we usually magnify a problem unnecessary, worry tends to go away. In addition, the basic procedure of dealing with worry such as stopping, breathing, reflect and choose is critical.
Amy,
Stress often comes from uncertaninity. Keep your goals and objectives clear and precise.

It is common in all workplace settings to encounter some form of stress. If other colleagues have been stressed, I have been willing to listen to their problems; I do not attempt to correct their problems but give insight as to possible options for making a stressful situation better.
if they change their expectations every second, then what?
They love to raise barrs everyday just to keep others unde stress.
musharaf,
We need to be clear about our goals with no surprises. If your people are clear about their task there should be no surprises about their expectations.

Everybody has to face this delima on workplace. This is totally a human made issue. workplace stress is a highly contagious disease. your managers always wana keep you under stress by putting extra work load on their employees. They totally ignore this fact that performance decreases as the stress level increases. We are supposed to talk to our employees about the ongoing issues to solve them rather esclating the situation by giving them hard time. We must try to create comfortable work environment to get maximum results.
Andrew,
Team in any setting is extremely important. If you can surround yourself with talented people your job will be much more enjoyable.
Dr. Gary Carlson
I find that it is really productive to admit when you need help, and to remind your co-workers that you are there to help them as well. Sometimes I think people don't delegate because they are not sure how to go about asking for help without sounding rude. I think the more that we can help each other in the workplace, the less our stress level will rise.
James,
Having these out of body experiences for the sake of sanity is often good to refresh yourself for the rigors of the day.
Dr. Gary Carlson
Sometimes when I get stressed out I look at the postcard of Fugi hanging on my cubicle wall. It's a picture of a tropical waterfall. I imagine I'm in the picture. Maybe I'm sipping a cold beverage in the scene (non-alcoholic of course since I'm still on the clock). So, for a few moments I'm in a tropical paradise of waterfalls and cold beverages.
I may spend five minutes there. When I "come back" to work, I'm refreshed and de-stressed. I hope this helps someone. cheers all.
joel,
It is always good to take a step back once in a while. You can call it your refresh moment. Once that is done correctly you have a new rejuvenation for your task at hand.

In the hospitality industry i have myself and my team usually walk away from the kitchen for a few minutes to just chat about positive personal experiences or we all sit down and have family meal together.
Chris ,
It is always good to have a backup plan when things are out of control.
