I agree 100%, as admissions representative we must:
- Provide prospective students with truthful and honest information to make an informed decision before enrolling.
- Ensure students have an understanding of their financial obligations related to enrollment.
- Set realistic expectations for time commitments for the overall programs and class work within each course.
- Disclose all information as required by relevant parties; and
- Encourage other employees to perform actions with integrity
Yes, the information is insurmountable especially since the rules and statutes are continually updated. We maintain a resource binder and we disseminate pertinent information via email to the varying departments. I find that the staff meetings to be the most effective forum to discuss guidelines as we are able to have a back and forth and discuss any concerns staff members may have.
Maybe,
Many schools do the same thing. It is a common best practice in admissions and in the other departments to keep everyone well-informed.

Miriam,
An admissions representative's dishonesty is illegal. In fair consumer practices we are required to be honest, ethical and forthright.
Patty Aronoff
We have a very similar process and find it works really well. We also conduct weekly staff meeting to make sure everyone is on the same page.
An important part of the Up-to-date information is honesty. Unfortunately, being dishonest with others and ourselves is sometimes easier than telling the truth. It doesn't need to be that way, though. In our institution we are working on honesty. Shifting the perspective slightly and orienting everyone to a policy of honesty can help to eliminate the need for lies and make it more attractive to tell the truth.
Claudia,
Excellent! You are on your way to building an excellent resource that will serve you well for many years to come
Patty Aronoff
I will also start a notebook to keep everything in and organized.
Fabian,
Meetings are an important aspect of the admissions department. Many departments meet twice a day and a full meeting on Fridays.
Patty Aronoff
Robert,
Being up-to-date is our responsibility. There is no excuse for not knowing these days.
Patty Aronoff
Asmir,
Absolutely! The laws in Florida are changed only once a year through the legislative process. The rules can be changed at any time. Accreditors change their requirements at any time as well.
Patty Aronoff
Weekly meetings with Director of Admissions or Assistant Director of admissions is a great way to update all admissions staff on current updates for this or any other matter
It is always important to keep up-to-date. At our school we have something like an in-service on rules and regulations to make sure everyone is current.
Frequently check the websites given in this class and keep a book up to date on them.
marta,
Excellent! Once you have defined your resource, you will be a will to target in on where the information is best obtained. Obviously today with the Internet the process is so much easier.
Patty Aronoff
Brian,
Excellent! Find out who your program specialist is and their direct line. They are wonderful resource and would love to have you call and ask questions.
Patty Aronoff
Well patty good question, I would consistently check the compliance guidelines and rules and regulations of my state to make sure that I stay within those guidelines. I would make sure to keep a note book handy as I gather the new information. Having it on hand well give me easy access to the information, and allow me to stay current.
What we are trying to do is get familiar with CIE site and check it at least once a month to make sure we are in compliance and to keep the culture. We are building a new note book that will have all the information needed in the department.
Nicole,
It is our duty to serve our students in the best possible manner.
Patty Aronoff
Brandon,
The commission is there to assist you as well as regulate the operations in Florida. They are wonderful resource and reach out to them.
