Conversation between admissions representative to prospective student

It is important that the admissions representative informs the student of all the possibilities that may occur. Prospective student should not be misguided at no point by the school they are planning to enroll in.

Daniel,

Agreed! Transparency should always be on the table and provide all the information for the student to make their own decision.

Patty Aronoff

When a potential student sits down with an admissions Representative they are gathering information to make a life changing decision. It is important to give the student as much information as possible so they can make an informed decision.

Jennifer,
Agreed! The student is your primary focus and we are providing a service. Think about how you would feel sitting across the table...are you getting the best?

Patty Aronoff

If everyone would talk to every prospective students as if they were a family members or best friends our world would be much happier. Its imperative that we are 100% transparent. Remember it's all about the student.

Karen,

Full transparency should be forthcoming. Let's always put everything out on the table.

Patty Aronoff

Yes, of course it is important to be in compliance with the appropriate regulations but it is also important for a prospective student who may not have attended school for a period of time to be made aware of all scenarios that can occur prior to admittance into a program.

Michelle ,
I agree with you! When we have the category of a student as "a butt in the seat" we have removed the individual from the picture. We are dealing with individuals.

Patty Aronoff

If an admissions representative gives inaccurate information just to "get the butt into the seat" then he/she is doing a disservice to not only the institution but also to the student who will most definitely relay what was said to him/her. I field misinformation on a daily basis. It is so important NOT to misguide any prospective student. It does no one any good.

Brian,

This is why I often encourage having the prospective student repeat back complex information so that I am sure they understand it correctly.

Patty Aronoff

Brian,

It needs to be the right fit for both the student and the school in order for the student to be successful.

Patty Aronoff

During initial interviews, it is important to remember that Admissions staff must speak in such a way that cannot possibly be misunderstood.

Aligning the needs of a student to that which our Institution offers is crucial for successful relationship building. After all, you never have a second chance to make a positive first impression.

I completely agree about honesty and transparency being a part of the interview process. Additionally, I agree that it does help with referrals because the student feels confident in the school and the program and they want to help others.

Emily,
Honesty....integrity....transparency....these are the qualities that bring people together.

Patty Aronoff

Carlos,
There are many needs of our students today and having solid communication with them will assist us in matching those services.

Patty Aronoff

Amanda,
It does need to be the right fit, from both sides. If we just enroll to increase a number, then the result is often a drop from the student. Don't chase...replace with a quality enrollment.

Patty Aronoff

LIUSMILA,
They rely on us for all the information they need whether they asked for it or not. We need to make sure that they understand the information provided.

Patty Aronoff

Luis,
We expect transparency today as consumers. It is okay to say you need to find out the right information if you are not sure.

Patty Aronoff

Carolina,

Ethical practice is the number one priority in admissions. We have a huge responsibility.
