Yes, social networking sites affect the communications of our students. Occasionally students will ask for additional commnunication through facebook too.
Our Institution has plenty of commercials and advertising through many popular sites.
Social networking sites are popular but should be watched closely.
We currently do not have a marketing plan for any social network. Probabaly don't need one since the institution is discussed openly with some of the students.
students talk with it but not to us
I agree. I believe it has a great impact in communicating with prospective students because it opens up a new medium of accessibilty and it provides a way to communicate with students more rapidly.
I have not experienced first hand the effects of the use of social networking sites in our industry. I would imagine that it could have an enourmous potential for lead generation and general information about our institution. I am not aware of our marketing plan that includes this advertising medium.
the populartity of social networking sites has grown tremendously over the years and I believe that it has aided our visibility and communication with prospective students. All demographics seem to be untilizing some form of social networking which allows us to be seen and out name to be out there which creates more marketing opportunities and communication with prospective students.
Regarding my schools marketing plan using social networking. Im not sure. I personally have seen my schools name pop up on a few sites so I assume that answer to be yes. But I am not aware of the formal marketing plan regarding social networking.
Technology is forever changing and the way to reach out changes. From pagers to cell phones to social network media we have to adapt to reach out to students. It is an effective way to communicate to this generation.
Social Networking is an important thing in a lot of people's lives today however I think it can be effective at times or it could hinder an institute. Our institution does not currently use social networking as a tool for marketing.
For smaller institutes I think it can be a great tool to market or be effective becuase they have a capacity to monitor what is taking place on the site and through the site. When it is a much larger company it can be almost impossible to keep up with filtering these sites. It is very important for our staff to be compliant and maintain a good repor with our students and by using some of these sites it can be impossible to monitor what is being said and it can also bring the credibility down on a person. The prospective student might think of you more as a peer or friends instead of a respectable employee for the company.
Based on the company I think it could go either way to be positive or negative but needs to be planned out and analyzed.
Using social networking sites to contact or search for students is something prohibited for agents by my employer.
We have a social profile on fb which appears to be a step in the right direction. Todays communication is important using the information highway in prospecting students.
A marketing plan may be underway, yet it appears the good old fashioned method -word of mouth continues to be the most effective communication enhanced by popular internet sites.
yes, it just gives you many other avenues to communicate with potential students
I don't know that social networks affect our communication with students all that much. But, our school does advertise on these different sites. These advertisements generate a lot of leads and it is becoming more for prospective students mention these sites when asked how did they hear about us.
Social Networking is a tremendous marketing tool. Especially for the younger generation. The comments from peers on a school are what helps them make a decision on where to get their higher education and also what they want to do for a career. It is not an expensive form of marketing but is world wide. The traditional forms of marketing are good, but this is the best way to find out current information about a school. Our school loves this form of marketing. Do you think there is a better way to market?
If there is a marketing plan for social networking site, then I am unaware of it at thistime. Our school discourages the use of these sites. This policy has been in place to prevent stepping over the boundaries of student/admissions relationships. It is something that I will bring up in our next team meeting.
I would have to say not at all, I have never had a student tell me that he heard of us via face book.
Now days you can advertise many ways and I would have to say we might just advertise in some social networking sites.
I am not a user of social networking.
No. We are not allowed to socialize with our students via social networks. These sites at my job are blocked. Hopefully, in the future this may be an option.
Those sites have greatly impacted communications with prospective students. It has made it a thousand times easier to reach millions more people! My school uses these sites to place ads that if clicked on can direct you to our website and give you more information on the programs you're looking for.
I am not aware of a social networking marketing plan for our school. I know our Audio/Video Production program does have a Facebook page. I get emails about that. I don't usually have a lot of time to Facebook. I imagine that it would be very helpful to gain attention for our school.
yes, our marketing department has done a great job of using SN sites. Future and Current students are able to communicate with one another. We have had very positive feedback thus far.
