Please let me know what you find out regarding this. Your question is my main concerning question having recently completed the OACC training. It certainly ties our hands if I understand the guidelines correctly

What is an acceptable way to speak about your school with someone who is currently enrolled elsewhere?

I don't know if the marketing department uses them, but we have been told not to have our students contact via Facebook. Which I totally agree 100%. I seldom use FB and I really don't need my students to see how goofy I can be at time. I have to keep our relationship (students) professional.

Media fragmentation makes personal contact tougher when making outbound phone calls. People want texts and facebook messages or emais.

My school does not use FB much. Though they should.

My school does not permit us as admissions representatives to have a website page or communicate on a social network. We can text or email a student but not use Facebook or social sites. We are not allowed to recruit students through the internet. Our school does have its own web page when contacted by student will request specific information and a leads is then generated for us. But this is from a strictly controlled Corportate level.

Social Networking has had a dramatic impact on communications with our students. Students look to these more and more frequently for information.
As of yet we don't have a formal marketing plan.

I have not utilized facebook for the purposes of marketing, although I am involved with certain clubs on campus which use it. I would caution anyone to discuss this social media with their Directors prior to initiating any individual marketing efforts, or as a means of routine contact.

Social networking has become such a huge part of today's society. It greatly affects communication for numerous businesses. We use Facebook as a marketing tool because it really allows us to reach out to more potential students.

I do agree that it provides a way to communicate more rapidly. Many college students and younger potential college students use social networking sites.

Social Networking sites will expand your market base. Many students and working adults use these social networking sites. My school does utilize social networking sites, to provide information to potential students or those searching social networking sites for college/university information.

I can only speak for myself. Not much i like to communicate at work only. But as for marketing it may have a significate affect.

Facebook, twitter, etc have given school the opportunity of a new way in contacting current students and also reaching out prospective students. Advertising on social networking sites has increased school's abilities to help those researching information. Directing them more specifically as to not waste time. My school doesn't utilize social networking sites for either of the above opportunities. While there are positive attributes of social networking sites there are also many negative aspects as well. My institution has decided that they do not want to risk the opportunity for negative impact and stick to traditional methods of contact and advertising.

I feel that an employees personal facebook page should be exactly that--personal. If the schools have a facebook page or twitter account thats a great way to reach out and gain exposure but it should be avoided in terms of one on one contact with the prospective students.

Social Networking///Even if I can't post that I am an Admissions Officer and I can't talk about enrollments via blogs. I find that just having Strayer as my employer aswell as school student allows friends and friends of friends the oportunity to contact via Facebook/Myspace and others. So I direct the to contact me via Employee Email and I have been pretty successful that way.

I think that these websites are going to be a great tool when it comes to being in contact with students. They create great advertising and communication through the new generation.However, we are encouraged to be cautious when we are using accounts/social networking sites due to misinterpretation of wording and our representation of the company.

Some of our school's clubs have their own Facebook sites, where students can discuss what they are doing. With the popularity of the Social Networking sites, I feel that is a great tool for students to get to know other students.

Social networking does have a profound affect on potential student decisions to attend any college. It is a place for them to get unfiltered testimony from current students.while those testimonies can be the reason for deciding to attendour school it also can be the reason they decide NOT to attend. it takes the buffer out of the way and lets potential students talk directly to current students.

Our school uses Facebook. Although it is a recent addition to our marketing, it seems to have been a positive addition. For students who may not be able to see a tv ad for our school but spend a significant amount of time on Facebook, this allows them to learn more about the school. Ive also found that sometimes students comment with suggestions on our facebook page, which is a great way for us as a campus to work to improve the overall college experience.

As an adult admissions representative I do not use facebook or twitter to communicate with perspective students. However we have a high school department that keeps in contact with the high school population through the use of face book and twitter.

I guess this is effective for them since they have to keep the student engaged from the initial point of contact until they graduate from high school which could be as long as 9 months.
