To interact with other admissions dept. I always come away with great Ideas

Learning the reasons for various changes in the program recruting structure. Also marketing methods used to accomandate, and attract indivuals with a handicap.

It's always useful to have additional training with regard to product and other departmental information that pertains to the students.

Admissions Reps need to be fluent in all services and support available services, as we seek to foster the success of the student.

Knowing as much as possible about all other departments can only empower you to help potential students to the best of your ability. Checking in with those departments regularly can keep you up to date on any changes in policy/procedure.

Each one of my directors at our school has sat through my presentation. Not only do I need to know about what they do, they need to know how I am representing our school and this allows me to make sure my information is accurate.

It'a always good to stay current with new regulations. Regulatory training would be nice to have on an as updated basis.

I agree Aaron. I would like to meet with them one on one to understand more about the process that they follow.

To new in career to determine training needs, maybe how state funded colleges differ in regulations and admissions processes, could provide a a big picture overview.

I think that knowing more about the academics dept would be a good training tool to have. Even though the two are quite separate, it does help on the admissions side as far as classes, instructors, etc.

That is so true, I always make sure I call someone in Financial Aid when I have a student with questions.

Learning completely how other departments are ran and what procedures they follow.

I would like to have additional training on the changes implemented by the DOE. Some of the guidelines are very vague and difficult to interpret.

Not only is product knowledge important but the knowledge of the company structure/policies/procedures as well.

Meeting with empolyers, whose types of jobs we train students for, would be an important part of the agent's job. This would give him/her a better idea of opportunities, so as to advise the student of opportunities.

Linda,

Letting the students know you are committed to their success throughout the program is very important. It sounds like you really understand that and are able to express it to the students.

Megan,

That sounds like a very helpful tool. I like the idea of learning by listening to your own calls.

Quinn,

That is a wonderful way to learn more about individual programs. What a great idea.

There are so many different areas which are pertaining to admissions. I feel the most important parts for future trainings are just refresher and updating trainings. Since things change so much it is important to make sure we all stay current as things change and updated.

Actually, I would like to get more involved in the career counseling area. Understanding how that process works would help me with the description of it as the next first step they take - the first being the one they are taking with me. Contacting potential employers, preparing the students for interviews and presentations, and follow-up with them as they work through the process are as interesting to me as the beginning step they take coming into our school.
