NO Gray area
When it comes to compliace there are no gray areas. It is either righ or wrong. I am very disciplined and methodical when it comes to compliance and I have no tolerance for those who try to "bend" the rules to get a student enrolled. There is too much to risk and frankly wrong is just simply wrong.
If there is any question about misrepresentation within the statement you are making to the student, do not make the it. Steer clear from the gray. My job is completely done over the phone, so I have to be even more vigilent as to informing the student about what is involved.
I have over twenty years experience in the field of education; when I was a teacher, we had to abide by many regulations: It is just easier to be trained correctly and to do the right thing.
i also agree with this thats why its important to have shoppers come in this will prevent any agent from mis guiding a student in anyway
We have to be mindful that this is someone's career, that we have in our hands. Gray area could destroy them
Yes, I completely agree! An agent should never misrepresent the school they work for or the programs it offers. We are here to help the student not give them a misrepresentation about where their diploma or degree made lead them in the future.
The ones that bend the rules are the one's that make the compliant reps pay the consequences. Regulations are always changing because of the bending of rules in education. I wish there was a rule bender hotline for schools to call in and let the education regulators aware of situations being heard.
I so agree, it is the student who will suffer and the school who will pay the price with wrong information.
I have student's that are graduating that still remember what their rep told them. So know they hear and remember everything.
The school then pays the price for the wrong info whether it be with the board or the student. Either way not far to anyone to present wrong information.
Thanks for posting this. I am coming from another college and I am amazed how uncompliant they are vs this new school. At the last school they would push push push and lie to make numbers. At the new school they go BY THE RULES and if we miss our goal at least it was done in good practice
I agree. There should be no bending of rules when it comes to getting a student enrolled. Continued education is very important and any issues that arise as a result of bending rules could essentially impact the the student in a very negative manner.
Well put Lisa and you are right there are no gray areas when it comes to compliance issues. Bending the rules is never justifiable when it comes to the enrollment process.
That is very true. There is no excuse for bending any rules. This will put the school in jeopardy and this shoild not be tolerated.
There is no gray area when it comes to compliance, always stick to the rules.
Mindy,
If you have concerns about a school not complying with the rules of the State Board of Career Colleges and Schools, please feel free to contact the Board.

I agree with you 100%! You need to be very strict when it comes to complaince. I see a particular college that does stuff wrong all the time and it just kills me!
I agree...If you try to fit something that just is not going to work out you will fail.
I agree. It seems seems like such a simple thing however, I think it is an easy trap to fall into. We all need to be careful and mindful that if you are unsure, play it safe!
This seems simple to many people. There are no gray areas and if you are one that is unsure play it safe.
Agreed, and glad to see my co-workers doing the right thing as well. I wouldn't want to be misleading and ruin my reputation as well as the schools.
Very true, some people worry too much about their numbers rather than ensuring each student fully understands what they are getting involved in.
