Yes, we do a more thorough interview with the potential students. We work with many agencies and the push is to get students employed. Although we can not guarantee employment we work VERY hard at helping and assiting the student with their plaacement goals.

We address any issues from the interview on. If we feel the applicant is going to need "support" to be successful we address that issue with our dean

Our school adopted new procedures to interview prospect students in more detail to find out their needs, motivations and real interests to determine if the program will be beneficial to them, and to find out what are their future plans and how do they see themselves with the degree.

We too go into detail because we want the student fully aware of what they are signing. By going into detail, it helps the student understand the information and feel more comfortable asking questions about it.

Ronald,

You bring up a good point. A student should not be admitted into a program if they cannot successfully benefit from the program. If a school offers a program in which someone with a criminal record cannot work, the school should make that part of the admissions requirements. If there is program in which a student "may" have trouble becoming employed with a criminal record, the Board recommends that school have the student sign a disclosure stating they understand they may have difficulty finding employment.

Ronald,

Utilizing individuals in the field is definitely a benefit to your program and the students.

We have entrance exams as well.

What if your student has a criminal record and is attempting to find placement in a field that requires a clean record?

This is not necessarily "prejudice", however it is making sure a school isnt setting someone up for debt with no chance of getting a job.

Our institution has enlisted the help of a board of advisors, to keep us on track with exactly what is needed or bing used in the industry. Armed with this information, students have a better understanding of what is involved in those particular fields, allowing for a more self aware approach to make a more informed decision and ensure their success.

This fall, well over a million freshman will enroll as full-time students ina four-year colleges and universitites across the US. Families will utilize their savings, students will take on thousands in loans and taxpayers will provide millions upon millions of dollars in subsidies and grants. Most of these students expect to earn a bachelor's degree. Yet the sad truth is that six years from now, in 2015, the data suggest that barely half will have an earned a degree. Only four in 10 will do so. Our school provides the ground work for students early on. Thru basic screening we assist the future for students in selecting a program that fits their need and skill level over enrolling it is very important that the student continues to gain assistance, the need to understand and accomplish set forth rubrics to continue success.

Our institution is always looking to help our students succeed. We have different departments that all play a part in the success of the students

Ashley,

It seems like the best way to handle this. You are getting an accurate assessment of their ability to succeed.

My institution has not made any changes to the admissions requirements but we have changed our interviews a little bit to help make sure the student is prepared to go to school. We help them to think about all the challenges that come with going to school and try to help them come up with ideas to be prepared for road blocks that could come up.

Why have a start if they don't have plans to graduate?
