Christopher,
Interesting! Thank you for sharing.
Dr. Jean Norris
I would fall between the Gen X and millennial but i favor many other ways to communicate. I would rather a face to face meeting rather than email or social media.
How do you think your preference impacts you in your role?
Dr. Jean Norris
I prefer telephone communiations
SUHEILY,
Great insight! What do you do when someone else prefers to use the phone or a letter though?
Dr. Jean Norris
I LIKE TO USE SOCIAL NETWORKS. FOR MY IS MORE QUICK AND EFFECTIVE USED AUDIO VISUAL MESSAGES, IN COMPARE TO A PHONE CALL OR LETTER.
It's great that you are aware of your preference so you can seek the opportunity to create that environment for yourself. How do you adapt for people with different preferences?
Dr. Jean Norris
The communication preference that I have that's associated with my generation is face to face communication. I prefer face to face communication because not only do I enjoy the interaction but I also tend to take note of the body language.
That's so true Katherine. Would you say that texting and immediate communication is your preference too?
Dr. Jean Norris
Texting; Instantaneous communication is a very integrated part of our society today.
I agree Migdalia, attitude is extremely important. If you think about your communication preferences, what preferences do you have that might not be a part of the traditional style for your generation?
Dr. Jean Norris
Attitude is extremely important for success in the work world. We need the verbal and appropiate communication to succesfull.
Nydia,
How do stereotypes hinder relationships?
Dr. Jean Norris
Stereotypes associated with Gen Y include the preference to work smarter, not harder and the desire for immediate feedback and rewards.
Cinthia,
Interesting that many people fall into this same situaiton. How do you manage great communication when people have difference preferences?
Dr. Jean Norris

I use email every day, but I like it the communication face to face
Kelley,
So it sounds like you have some baby boomer influence in your communication which can help you with that generation. How do you adapt for the millenial generation?
Dr. Jean Norris
I am from the Generation X, however, I perfer scheduled meetings, face to face meetings and to be direct to the point
in the last 5 years I have gotten more into social media. At first I thought it was lame-- who would want all their info out there-- but after moving to different states it became much easier to stay in touch this way. While it may be 'easier' it doesn't mean I like it. I'd still prefer the phone. Work-wise, if I get tired email or foresee an email war about to happen, I will get up and go talk to the person face-to-face so there's no reading between the lines.
