I like to us a hook for example a scholarship deadline mentioning that it is important that they respond by a deadline. also another metnod is to say something like I have great news for you! call me back by such date so we can discuss further.
Humor can be very effective in helping you to build rapport, Gianna. How do you find your students respond to your attempts at using humor?
I agree with personalizing the call and making sure that we speak clearly. Humor is something I try to use to build rapport but I will try on voicemail now.
Very positively. I tend to get a lot of call backs, and I always thank the student for calling me back.
I love the fact that you're sure to project excitement in your vocal tone in your messages. How do you find your students respond to these messages?
I always tell the student that I have some exciting news to tell them and the excitement in my voice usually gets them to call me back.
It works rett well. when they call back I explain all the scholarship opportunties that they have.
Great opener, Doug! How do you find using this method works in getting your students to call you back?
Hi Brian,
I have wonderfull news for you please call me back
It's great that you work to keep up your enthusiasm and energy level for your students when leaving voicemails, Katie. This may be just what the student needs to hear to feel motivated to call you back! When working with students, it's not uncommon to hear that reps are leaving multiple messages without hearing back. I'd love to hear about some of the things you do to keep up your energy and excitement your students, if you'd be willing to share!
I find that using a exciting tone of voice works well. Sometimes if I have been unable to reach the students I will leave a voicemail which may say. Hey Bob! I have some great news about (the program they are instered in) Give me a call back ASAP so I can share this great news with you! Usually they do call back and I fill them in on things as well as now I have their attention.
Thank you Dr. Jean Norris, for your professional opinion and your valuable time to read my message. Responding to your question; there is a lot of effort motivation and enthusiasm that a person need to have or learn in order to make this happened. You need to be a "People person".
Because, these are the key ingredients to be successful with people. So i keep on mind always diverse technics like: Communication Skills, Analyzed and Identify what type of person i have in from of me, based on their values, culture, expectations and needs. We also have to listen to them. So that way we show then respect and demonstrated that we really want to help. And most of the cases if we have to say no they don't object and understand. So that way we offer a good and professional customer services.
Hi Elizabeth! So it sounds as if you want to create a more comfortable environment for the student to allow for a more effective interaction. You also mention motivating the student to improve their confidence and helping them relax. How do you go about doing these things exactly?
Create an Enviroment more comfortable for the student. Mean time aloud the conversation to be more effective. Motivate the student to express his self with more confidence, So this way he can relax and concentrate to asked better questions and agree with the information that he is receiving.
This is interesting, Jose (and creative). Can you provide us with a little more detail to understand the value of this approach.
i some times say that i just missed the their call, even if the student did not call. :)
Sounds as if this works for you. That's great! Any other ideas?
Hi Denise. So glad you found a few new things to add to what you already do. Please keep us posted on your success!
I usually let them know i have some exciting information that I need to discuss with them and that usually perks their interest and I get a call back
I love the idea of using appropriate humor -- this is a great idea. I will definitely use this technique. Also, providing direction for the student to call back and not leaving a vague message. I also love the concept of voicemail being the ultimate advertising vehicle -- very clever.
