In addition to the website I encourage students to spend a few minutes with me so i can explain the documents to them!
Thelma,
I think it is great that you provide disclosures in your presentation. Do you feel that it is more difficult to explain the compliance disclosures to online students as opposed to ground students?
Cindy Bryant
Our disclosures are on our website and they are managed by our compliance staff member. I go over all of them during the interview process. When someone enrolls, they sign that they have received and read and understand all the disclosures.
Hello, We have all disclosures posted on our website and that is managed by our compliance staff member. I have disclosures in my presentation that I go over with each student either in person or by phone if they are applying for online.
We also give a copy of disclosures to each student that enrolls.
It is important to distribute up-dated disclosures to potential and registered students as discussed in the course to protect the students and the school image and to maintain a solid relation with them. I would suggest that they distribute addendum to them while waiting for the upcoming publications that will reflect the new changes.

Every potential student will receive our school's catalog. Our catalog discuss the advantages of selecting our school and it also has all disclosures to ensure they can make a sound decision.
Lauren ,
Having a compliance team to review all marketing materials and disclosures are a great resource in order to maintain compliance.
Cindy Bryant
We have a very similar process. Before anything is printed or posted it is very carefully reviewed and we (admissions) are all made aware that it has been approved and where and when it will be printed and posted and available to us and the applicants.
Hector,
Using a variety of communication methods is key when you are wanting to get your point across. Learning styles transcend all types of learning whether it be classroom or informational. Glad that you are using many methods.
Cindy Bryant
In my experience I have learned that often times, simply choosing one method of delivery of a notice, disclosure, news, etc. is not nearly enough. I have spoken to students who have mentioned, "I didn't know that," but when I show them the campus information bulletin board, the notice is right there and has been posted for some time. The fact is, using a variety of channels of communications is usually the most effective way of communicating with students, ie. website, email, physical postings, class visits, student meetings, flyers, etc. And even then, sometime students still claim did not know!
Students receive the catalog and information regarding the school, they also receive an initial orientation where the most important information is discussed.
What procedures does your institution have in place to ensure that students and prospective students receive the currently required disclosures? Do you feel the students read and understand the disclosures they are presented with?
The disclosures are provided for each program on our website. On the information sheets for each program that we have here on the campus for the prospective students to take home with them, there is information provided on the program sheet about where to locate disclosure information.
Prospective students can access standard disclosures from our website and accessed through links provided on any type of advertising including pamphlets, tv commercials, etc. In addition, individuals are provided at time of interview with the school, the web link to the general education disclosures found at the bottom of all curriculum information. When a prospect enters the enrollment/application process, they are also given this information in hand during their financial aid review. Finally, individuals receive a college catalogue at time of enrollment establishing their access to these disclosures. We ensure that any prospect or individual entering an enrollment process with us has many opportunities to access this information. This is a huge benefit to our consumers to ensure they are fully aware of who they will be entering in an educational relationship with.
Becky,
That's great! If the students are satisfied with the information that they are receiving they are far more likely to refer other students to your school.
Cindy Bryant
We do the same here at our college and students are happy with how they receive all information.
Nelson,
Thank you so much for responding to my question. You have truly thought through your answer and are right on target.
Cindy Bryant
Hi, Cindy:
I feel the disclosures do have an impact on enrollments. Students have expressed their feelings that it was apparent that we not only have educational concerns for them, but, employment concerns (without guaranteeing), and not just putting people in seats. As a trade school, their biggest concern is finding work after successfully completing a quality education.
Nelson,
Do you feel that the disclosures have had an impact on student enrollments and why?
Cindy Bryant
Before a student enrolls, accreditation and course certification is discussed thoroughly. The prospective student is also made known the completion/placement reporting period between set dates. This includes the number of students graduated, minus unavailable/unqualified,unemployed, unknown, employed other, obtained employment in occupation. All this is made known to the potential student before he/she makes their enrollment decision.
