Marko,

This is a great strategy for keeping the two departments separated.

Cindy Bryant

Course descriptions will be the topic we handle frequently when assisting students. Another area of high concern would be that of cost concerns. My team will go over the information with the students as well as emailing them a copy of what was spoken about, and where it can be found in the catalog and/or the website.

As far as financial aid concerns, we will then transfer the student to a financial aid specialist for assistance allowing for us to not cross any lines regarding procedures and policies.

Amy,

Fantastic! I love it when a course generates research and learning.

Cindy Bryant

Brendan,

Setting student expectations is critical. Using the catalog as a guideline helps to avoid misrepresentation. Keep up the good work!

Cindy Bryant

When I first read this topic I didn't think it actually applied to me until I went back and looked into what catalogs actually include. Much to my surprise I refer to a number of items daily. Some of which include:
1) contact information
2) program and/or course descriptions
3) program lenght
4) graduation requiements
5) admission policies and procedures
6) transfer credit policies
7) school calendar
and a few others on occasion. Since I work in the admissions department of the school I cover these items with students, alomst on a daily basis.

In my particular area, what I reference most is the course descriptions in regards to admissions. I use this to make sure the student is aware of what will be expected of them.

I frequently reference the course descriptions. Reading the course descriptions and expectations can help the student make informed choices.

I most frequently reference the program discription and the course discriptions as a way of communicating with potential externship sites about the education and hands-on learning that our students receive.

The federal policies regarding student Satisfactory Academic Progress as well as our company's own policy regarding academic and attendance requirements are a common topic of discussion in our schools, mainly due to the fact that these policies have the greatest impact on students' eligibility to complete a program of study.

From our campus catalog what we seem to reference is our academic programs on campus, the specific descriptions of the courses that the student will be taking and course policies. Students generally always want to know about their current GPA level and what it will take to maintain the Deans List. Another area that the student will focus on is to ensure that they are in good academic standing with the college. The other area that I seem to reference is taking an incomplete in a class due to personal reasons for the student.

Kristeen,

Thank you for your quick response. The catalog is the most important document for the student to understand.

Cindy Bryant

Some prospective students come to see the school to better educate themselves on the career in general, not just the school. They’re doing research to see if that field is even something they want to go down. So using the catalog and the breakdown of the curriculum they educate themselves on what exactly they will be studying, and for how long.

Kristeen ,

Hi-since I am not quite clear on your position would you explain how this benefits the students you work with on a daily basis?

Cindy Bryant

Mostly I use if for the curriculum and the breakdown of the tuition.

Mallik,

It is great to hear that you set the ethical expectations at the onset. It has been my experience that students will rise to your expectations.

Cindy Bryant

We are school who accredited 2 years ago, We are massage based school and for us the ethical value during the initial screening and at the same time we always look in to polices which will protect our students.

John,

Leave of Absence is critical piece of information that needs to be discussed in the beginning. If you conduct a thorough interview you are able to uncover any red flags.

Cindy Bryant

I discuss loa , Leave of absence. Alot of the students may want to go away for the summer with family. This topic is important as too the reasons for the leave. The leave is only approved for certain circumstances only.

Timothy,

Campus security is an important topic especially for parents of students who are just getting out on their own.

Cindy Bryant

Program Description, Cost, schedules, seem to be most freq. however I do come across questions on things like campus security when talking with younger prospects and their parents
