I think that our school is made up of individuals with intelligent hearts but they lack the element of direction. These individuals do not know their place in the bigger picture of the culture and need to coached as to how their roles can affect a positive change with in the student body. It is not just having the intention of intelligent heart but we need to focus on turning the good intentions into actions.

Anthony,

What are some ways the team can make up for that loss?

Jeffrey Schillinger

The issue that I notice when it comes to intelligent hearts is the level of it can change when the leadership changes. We recently had a president that had a high level of Heart but was let go. The new president is a nice person but dose not have the same level of IH.

I believe our school has a good intelligent heart. Departments and instructors are collaborative with the students experience and outcomes at the center.

My school's culture is getting better. My description of an intelligent heart would be how each person in each area of the school displays their passion and common vision for the same goals. Our school is striving to regain this perception and instill it in our staff and faculty.

Our culture is simple, we strive to do the best and work closely as a team for the benefit of each and every student

Our institution is made up of past students who are passionate about their jobs as educators or administrative staff but also as professionals in their skilled profession. Due to this fact, they bring passion, empathy and a willingness to help current students achieve their goals. That to me is personification of "Intelligent Heart".

We are school filled with people with Intelligent Hearts. A huge reason why I am here. We stumble sometimes and get back up. We know that our students are the focus and that we are here to help them fulfill their dreams and have a better life. Intelligent heart: Ability to do their job because they care about the position, the organization and most of all our customers, the student.

Tracy,

What are some specific behaviors of educators with an intelligent heart?

Jeffrey Schillinger

We all work together as an intelligent heart team, a team that makes the students dream come true and be successful in their field.

Ted,

What might be the best thing a school can do to turn the negative folks around or to "inspire" them to leave?

Jeffrey Schillinger

Our culture is a difficult one to quantify. While I would say that the vast majority of the members care about the outcomes of the students I also see some that take an inappropriate level of pleasure in watching students struggle at times. Things have improved greatly over the years but we still have room to grow and be better.

Tenille,

Changing a culture can be difficult. Having a common goal can help.

Jeffrey Schillinger

The culture in my school is.. 'a work in progress'. We have gone through some management staffing changes and are working toward a better tomorrow. We have been making progress as a TEAM and my hope is we will become even stronger after this transition. My perception of an intelligent heart is someone who keeps the greater good in mind, someone who is aware of others and tries to anticipate needs. An intelligent heart will be understanding of the weaknesses of the individuals and help them to overcome. An intelligent heart will recognize the strengths of the individuals and utilize these assets for the betterment of the group.

I agree with Michael, as a whole all departments must work together to make the educational process a success for the student and school

I concur with Michael's response it is the only way to be successful as a school

Tony,

I like the badge idea. Thanks for sharing it.

Jeffrey Schillinger

The school I work at has a pledge that is printed on our I.D. Badges, it states I will care, I will help, I will respect you, I will listen. This simple pledge reminds all of us here why we are here, and the reason we are here.

Robert,

What are some of the ways negativity is demonstrated at your campus?

Jeffrey Schillinger

I try to model the Intelligent Heart here at my Campus. My hope is that others will follow my lead as our culture can sometimes become negative. I try to rise above the negativety and demonstrate the power of positivity.
