Ronnie,
As role models, preparation does help set the stage. And I think students expect thier instructors to always be ready, prepared, and "there" for them with answers, suggestions, advice, and the benefit of our experience.

Kathy,
Yes, we make good impressions with preparation. Really, students expect their instructors to be ready for each and every class, and when we aren't, that's when the instructor's credibility begins to falter.

Barry Westling

It shows the students that Im a profesional ready for work. And maybe help them be prepare for when they go to work.

Being prepared for class is one of the first impressions that you can make on students. Staying well organized lets the students relax and be led on a journey that you have organized for them. It builds trust and rapport and keeps the focus on learning.

Thank you

Kathy

Jimin,
The best classes are the ones where the instructor took time, effort and planning to make it that way.

David ,
Sure. Students expect (and deserve) their instructor to be prepared, materials organized, and able to smoothly go through the daily lesson. They should feel as though the class session was beneficial, and added to their culmulative knowledge and learning that will help them be prepared for the work setting they're training for.

Michelle,
Great. The last 10-15 minutes of class can sometimes be put to good use by reviewing daily or past information. I agree that setting up before students arrive provides time for students before class without me being rushed to get my stuff ready.

Barry Westling

I personally think that it is important because that is the first step to gain trust and anticipation for the teacher and for the class. It also helps me to clearly teach and explain the matters to the class.

An instructor should be organized and ready for the class because if he/she isn't they become a distraction to the class itself. If you have to leave the class to make copies it shows your disinterest in the class the material being taught and the students will not see a need to pay attention. If you don't take the time to be prepared why should they take the time to listen to your lecture ?

An instructor who is unorganized or not properly prepared for class can not exect the students to be either. I have found that if I take a bit of time after each lesson to review it and prepare for the next one as well as arriving a few minutes early to set up the class that things go alot smoother.

Barbara,
Yes, and when the instructor is prepared, classes run smoother, students are at ease, and overall effectiveness is improved.

While it is interpreted as a sign of respect, it also sets an example for the students. An instructor expects the students to be prepared for class, so the same should be expected of the instructor. In addition, the student may not have good organizational or preparation skills, so this would be an effective way of being a role-model for that student.

Joshua,
Sure. I'll tell you, there's nothing like an enthusiastic instructor, accompanied by a pssion for a subject, with solid base of knowledge to share with their students. It's a winning combination.

Barry Westling

Richard,
Sure, when we're prepared, theres a confidence and anticipation that a good, solid dose of instruction is in the offing. That's a good place to be.

Barry Westling

Carmella,
Right. If we agree that students are our priority, then we have to do all we can to assist them, prepardeness the least of it.

Barry Westling

Carlos,
Yeah, it's said "we have one chance to make a good first impression". I think students want and need their instructor to be in control, have what they need, be ready and prepared, and be the helpful mentor to guide to suyccessful course completion.

Barry Westling

It shows students you are passionate about the topic of the class because you took time to prepare them better for retaining knowledge but placing in them a passion for the field.

I like to be prepared before I enter the classroom. It give me more confidence in what I am teaching and shows the students that I care enough about them to be ready.

Being organized and prepared for class sends the message to the student that they are important.
You want them to succeed and seeing the handouts allows them to mentally prepare for the lesson that is forth coming. If colored paper is used then you have more likely caught yheir attention.

Carlos,
It true, doing all we can do prepare benefits students in so many ways.
