In educating students we are preparing them for careers. We need to make sure that we give them real world applications for the concepts that they are presented with in the classroom. If we do not do this, the students are not able to take the concepts into the work environment with them. Students also need to be educated in soft skills. Students often don't realize that when they have weak soft skills in the classroom, they are likely to have weak soft skills in the work place.
The goal of educating students is to give them the skills and knowledge that they need to take with them in the real world and to be successful in their careers.
Hi Joseph:
For me, my goal, stated in the broadest sense, is to assure the student is job ready. There are many techniques, resources, plans, and approaches to achieve this.
Among, and perhaps above all of these, is to try to personalize the instruction as much as possible. When we are able to respond to students as individuals, and tailor their instruction for where they're at, that will benefit them for than anything
Of course time and class numbers limit how much can be done in this regard.

My personal goal as a chef instructor is to get each and every student that I have to their goals. There are many different options culinarians have which can fit most all skill levels.
Hi Kelly:
For me, a very borad-based goal is to assure the SKA's (skills, knowledge, and behaviors) needed for the job are accomplished within the time frame given.
Tansforming a student with little skill or knowledge into a performing, job-ready graduate is another general goal. How we go about this can vary, and should, based on the student's individuls needs.

My goal is to demonstrate procedures to the students
with the objective to understand the process and the techniques involved. I want them to learn how to pass instruments correctly and efficiently and how to deal with possible mistakes, and smooth recovery not just a sequence of steps. I stress to them this importance and not just learning the steps in the sequence. I also stress that every doctor is different and the sequence will vary, but the knowledge of correct technique in instrument transfer and a neat and clean work area are most important.
The goal of educating students is to teach specific skills, critical thinking, and learning to apply knowledge learned to the real world. Learning involves two components, cognitive skills and physical demonstration. If a student does not undestand the content, the student cannot perform the tasks.
It is in my opinion that the goal of educating students is that they actually learn the topic well enough to comprehend and do well on a job of their chosen profession.
Ultimately, I believe most students desire to pass the course with the highest possible grade, and then hopefully find employment in the field they are pursuing with their newly acquired skills. This should also be part of the instructor’s goal. He or she also has to insure that the students have the ability to apply this information and expertise in real-world settings with the ability to use these skills automatically to a situation. Additionally, an educator needs to assist students through the transition from one learning level to another. This goal should include student soft-skill development.
is to give them enough knwoledge and training in order that they face succesfully teir future job.
so they can be successful when they graduate
for students to master course objectives.
I think that is why a large part of what we must do is to help them deal with mistakes when they happen. We need to encourage them to learn from mistakes as we have learned to learn from our own.
My goal to educating students is to educate them and teach the on the subjects and skills they are interested in, so they too may contribute and participate in dispersing knowledge and skills to others. Also, that more knowledge is invented and discovered, and dispersed to others, so that we all contribute to the good of the world and existence.
The goal of educating students is to provide them with a skill set that is transferrable to the workplace. In healthcare education it is also important to role model and to teach the concept of life long learning because the healthcare environment evolves with advances in science and technology.
my belief is that we are educating students on specific important tasks but equally important is how to continue learning or to get the answers needed in the future to continue as technology advances.
The goal of educating students is to ensure that they come away from the class and college having learned some social skills, and having learned how to act, and graduating better then they started college
The goals of educating students include (a)assessing the students current knowledge to reinforce industry standards (b)introduce new applicable subject matter to improve the students skills and knowledge base
I respectfully disagree with you(although you may have been hinting at this Ronald). While I would like to try to impart my wisdom which has come with age and by making mistakes so that my students will not make the same mistakes. I think sometimes making those mistakes will make a person stronger and will prevent a person from making those mistakes or similair ones in the future. Our job as educators is to assure that those errors are not too big or dangerous, and that the student is guided through the process with little if any reprecussions. I can sometimes see where an error can be a time as part of the learning process and not necessarily a negative experience if we approach it in the correct manner.
Hi Jeffrey:
One thing we can say about the overall goal of education is to help our students become more effective decision makers - in school, in their careers, and in life.
