I agree. The way you instruct your classroom and present yourself as the instructor by interacting with your students. This will make students feel confident in you as an instructor and also in the work that they do.
Jasmin,
Know your students and plan accordingly. You are right on with your comments about doing such.

As an instructor, I believe you style should be alter to suit the needs of your students. For example, I prepare point for every class for visual learners but also take notes during class for those who are more hands on.
William,
I have found this to be true in may teaching as well. I have to incorporate relevancy and application for maximum retention of content.

Baneet,
Student management is essential if you are going to maintain control of the class. So follow the strategies you have laid out to make sure you are the educational leader.

I find that the lecture forms a good foundation but in order for the knowledge to solidify in the minds of my students, I need to employ other activities that take this knowledge and apply it. Case studies discussions, small group activities and other similar activities work very well for me.
I think for me I need to enhance on how to deal with tough situations in the classroom. Sometimes conflicts occur and misunderstanding occurs and I need to get better at handling these situations
I think that preparartion is a great technique that can futher refine and enhance one's instructional style. One thing that I plan to do more is to examine best practices through research and by observing instructors who are seasoned and who have instructional styles that reach all of their students.
Nestor,
Good for you. You are walking the talk and walking the walk both of which are essential when you are modeling professionalism for your students.

I believe a technique that further develops, refines, and enhances my style would be implementing a reflection style. That is a comprehensive question or exercise that challenges the students after the lesson is taught. I think a simple question will do. but it could be a on-line exercise or a game. There is no limit to this enhancement
I agree that preparation should be a main player in an instructor's instructional style. I know my instructional textbooks inside and out and I would never ask my students to do anything that I myself would be unwilling or unable to do. I try my best to lead my example.
Jim,
Good integration of different instructional delivery methods. You are bringing your personality to the classroom with energy and enthusiasm plus passion for your field. This is a win win for learning.

I'm always trying new things in the classroom as I have found out from experience. Most of the time these methods usually work, however, its different every time with every class. I try to have more discussions on topics to get all students involved and to think. I raise issues and questions. I also urge my students to research these topics and check some things online during class. I also might want to throw in a few fun items to keep the mood upbeat. Learning should be enjoyable and fun but only to the point of the end result. I also try to use powerpoint slides and other internet sites. Having high energy and asking questions always works.
I have the opportunity to enjoy a hands on approach to projects the students are required to complete. I can show them projects I completed and actually used in the work force. I then challenge them to attain a higher grade than I achieved for the same project.
That is a great way to augment the book by providing additional resources. I too like to do that. In a normal classroom setting I use see it, do it and then teach it (to your fellow classmates).
I agree being prepared is an excellent way to be in control of the course material
I believe that offering great visual aides and alternative resources to reinforce the topics learned is a great way to help my instructional style.
Yes, having both former and new students in lab it has worked very well. It also has makes discussions very interesting as students who are not in health care join the lab discussions and have become regulars.
Daniel,
Sounds like a comfortable and easy way to work with your previous students in the lab. The new students give you an opportunity to develop rapport with them and build a relationship that will carry over into the lab.

Chloe,
If you can use case studies or role playing into your instructional delivery you will engage the students as well. I lecture then discuss. Once we have talked through the new information we do problem solving or case studies and the students really like this.
