The learning environment is very import. It must be condusive to learning. for example take into consideration are the course materils ready, does the classroom have audio and visual aids.

The learning environment definitely plays an important role in the delivery of instructional materials. You want your students to feel comfortable in the classroom. A pleasant surrounding is conductive to learning. As an instructor, you want to make sure everything is in order before you start the class. There are incidents that could distract the instructional process.
1. Do you have the correct password to turn on the school computer?
2. Can you access the Internet in the classroom? Is the cable properly connected?
3. Does the PowerPoint projector work?
4. Are there enough tables and chairs for your students?
5. Is your classroom door unlocked?
We want to reduce the distractions. So it is a good idea to come in early and make sure everything is ready for you to conduct your lecture. The learning environment does set the tone.
The learning environment, which, I believe, includes technology, plays a big role in the instructional process. For example, I taught a course in a room that had a computer for the instructor's use, but was not yet internet ready. It was a criminal justice class and I needed to be able to access my state's statutes for various presentations. Instead of being able to pull up a statute and put it on the screen for learners to see, I either had to make copies, which is expensive, or just read it to them. Fortunately, this has been remedied and instructors are now able to easily access online resources, which are abundant.

Good point about how a students needs to be integrated into a new setting like the classroom, whether on-site or online. They need to feel accepted by the instructor and respected for who they are. With these components in place they will become comfortable and be less nervous as they progress through the course.

The learning environment should be as close to real world concepts as possible considering that class is online it is more difficult to accomplish this. By using various methods including media it is easier to accomplish this.
The learning environment really sets the tone for students and the instructor. Speaking as an online instructor, it is crucial that the learning environment be organized, easy to read, and be arranged in a user-friendly manner. I have been in online course rooms that are so unorganized and not clearly laid out that it immediately creates anxiety. If students are not able to easily access course information, instructions on what and how to post, how to submit assignment, and other necessities of the online learning environment, students will just not be able to learn the course concepts because they cannot even maneuver through the class. Whether the class is in person or online, the learning environment needs to be comfortable, calm, and organized to ensure that there are not distractions that inhibit learning.
It is critical that instructors be aware of student learning styles and try to influence the learning environment to fit those styles.

While this would be nice, I do not see it as the primary goal of the learning environment. The learning environment needs to create a safe and comfortable place in which to learn.
The learning environment needs to aid in the learning process. That being said, students must feel safe and comfortable. While, this can be achieved in the classroom, it may not always be that way in the workplace.
