Carla,

I found it interesting that you do a written assessment on the first day of class. On the first day of class, I have found that just working with students, reviewing the syllabus, and setting up group and individual activities that you start to pick up on their learning styles quickly. This is challenging when you have a classroom of over 25. In my experience, I have had students that did not know their learning style. Has this happened to you?

Knowing the learning styles of your students helps to understand who you are teaching and how to use your approach effectively. Some students are quicker than others when in an environment of self discovery.

Knowing the style of learning that students haveallows you to personalize learning per student. It also allows you to teach in diffrent ways. By using all of the learning styles that each or most of your students learn from allows learning to be more effective for your students.

By knowing the learning styles of each student will help the instructor present the learning material so that all students can grasp the information.

As a student, many moons ago,I had never been in a program that assessed my learning style. I see the importance of this and would love to see it incorporated in the current program I am involved with. Knowing my students learning styles will help me with my teaching strategies to avoid the frustration on both my part and that of the students when they are not mastering the information.

This module has been extremely helpful is determining the different learning styles of my students!thanks

Knowing the instructional benefits using different learning styles to students makes the learning fun, informative, not boring and easy to convey the important facts or things that needs to be taught to the students.

As an instructor I feel that if a student is not doing well in my class I have to look at myself first. I have always believed in learning styles and strive to address each student in the manner that they learn best. I discuss this the first day of each class so that the students feel free to come to me if they need additional help.

Identifying and being aware of student learning styles is a great way of maximizing the learning of all students in a class. In classrooms there are always going to be multiple learning styles and being aware of these styles is necessary in assisting students to be successful learners. I feel certain that student retention would increase dramatically if instructors considered utilizing sll learning styles for both instructional presentations as well as in evaluation of student progress.

The benefit to knowing learning styles will aid in conveying the material in a well rounded manner. It will give every student the opportunity to excel in the class room. Recognizing different learning styles allows the instructor to be more effective because it will potentially meet the learning needs of the class as a whole.
