Applying different ways to view the information such as lecture, drawing diagrams, videos helps them stay involved and veiw the material in different ways.
the benefit is by allowing the student to run with his or her learning style they obviously, I think, reap more knowledge from the material.
I use the water method. the student will seek his own level if allowed. by observing how they react to the different methods of delivery it becomes easier to identify each students preference.
If you know what ways help each student learn you can teach them more efficiently.

I have a large range of students, that incorporate all the different learning styles. By knowing who is what, it helps me develop my lesson plans accordingly.
Knowing the learning styles of your students allows you to change up lecture so that ALL can learn in the best way possible for each student

I try to incorporate different techniques everyday. I use lecture, class discussion, games, worksheets and photos/videos. I want all of my students to feel like they are taking something away from every class session
Agreed! I have discovered in many of my classes that student learning styles vary and, therefore, differentiation of instruction is vital for effective understanding.
A course syllabus is a guideline to teach required course content but the key to student learning is tailoring the delivery of the course content to meet varied learning styles and needs of the students. At the beginning of term I can do a very quick survey to determine the learning styles of the students and use the results to customize my delivery of course content to that population of students. Each new class may have different learning needs so an effective instructor needs to be flexible enough to teach the best method for the students, not what is easiest or most convenient for the instructor.

Hi Freddie, Thanks for your post to the forum. That is a good point - we need to also encourage our students to be more comfortable with other learning styles as well. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

This is the best way to learn what topics can be presented in the style particular to all students. Learning their styles will help make for a well-balanced class. Also, you can start to gauge if a student is visibly interested by their demeanor during the instruction, which may assist in switching on the fly (with a plan already in place).
The benefits of knowing the learning styles of my students allows for development of lesson plans tailored to meet the learning styles of my different students. Usually, there is diverse number of student with each learning style. Therefore, the instructor must allow for sessions which uses lectures along with study handouts, projects which required hands on, and problem solving projects which involve group discussions.
I see the benefits as endless for both learners and myself. My students will learn in greater depth and more comfortably and I'll feel a terrific sense of accomplishment. My classes alternate between lecture and lab every other day so there is plenty of room to gain valuable knowledge in the subject of learning styles and how to balance them in classroom delivery. I'm excited about exploring a method of discovering each of their learning styles.
As instructors become aware of each students' learning style, they should incorporate it into their instructions. Then students will be able to develop more as they become aware of other styles.
