Each student learn's differently so knowing this will help the instructor apply the lecture more effectively to everyone

When I recognize my students' learning styles, I feel I am being an effective instructor for my students. I understand how they prefer to learn. I also teach my students to strengthen the other learning styles because some instructors will only lecture and that may not be the best method for the student.

The more you can relate to your students and differentiate instruction, the more students will be engaged in the lesson.

Hi Jagrup, Thanks for your post to the forum. That is indeed the goal of teaching to the learning styles!

Knowing the learning styles of students is a huge benefit in helping them learn and achieve success. I really liked the information indicating that we as instructors tend to teach based on our own style, and we would enhance the learning experience if we focused more on our students.

I do the same thing, I think that by helping the student learn through proper learning styles is extrememly important.

Knowing the learning style of my students facilitates me in preparing my lesson plans.

Knowing and understanding the learning styles of you students enables you to best prepare how you will deliver your information. You have set learning objectives for the course and in order to bet commicate those to your students, you have to be adapatable and flexible in you presentation of the information. If you accomplish this then then you will not only have succesfully taught the information, but your students will succesfully LEARN the information.

I believe it benefits the flow of the class between students and instructors. It also fosters learner enthusiasm and information retention

Knowing the learning styles of your students helps instructors focus their instructional delivery meothds towards the specific demographics of the group. No matter what specific learning style is the primary style preffered by a student, the more learning stles that can be used in teaching a single concept the greater the chances of comprehension and retention.

As an instructor knowing the learning styles of students becomes effective in delivering content and preparing for a lecture

The ultimate goal is for all the students to succeed in passing the course. Therefore, because we know that every student learns differently, that should automatically imply that each instructor must teach differently. The best suggestion was to have each student complete a survey to determine their learning style and THEN create lesson plans to accommodate each style to suit the students ability.

Hi Candace, Thanks for your post to the forum. From what you describe you are reaching all the styles! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.
