I think it is very important to know the learning styles of your students so you can keep their attention longer and keep them interested..

it allows the instructor to incorpirate the different styles of learning into the class to insure that all students have a chance to learn.

This will allow all the students retain the information that I am giving.

Benefits include connecting more quickly with the learner. YOu can modify the instruction so that it is more purposeful to the students. Good instructors meet the students where they are and move them forward. When you know how your students learn best you can apply the learning methods that best meet your group of students. The students will be more engaged in what is being taught and achieve greater success. Knowledge is power and the more you have as an instructor the better prepared you can be to create a successful learning environment.

You can prepare a lesson plan that is conducive to type learners you are educating. Ultimately, this will enhance lesson comprehension and retention.

Knowing the learning styles of your students enables you to plan the presentation of your lessons to meet the needs of the students currently in your classroom. Using that information enables you to divide them into a diverse group for group assignments, thus allowing each to use his/her strength while seeing how other learning styles work.

Hi Jill, That is an excellent way to get the entire class aware of and involved in their own learning styles. Susan

I totally agree. With today's technology they make it very easy to address multiple learning needs at one time.

It is helpful to understand my students' learning styles- this helps me as an instructor to make sure that I deliver the information to them in a way that is most understandable to them.

Hi Susan. On the first day with my students, I have them take a learning style quiz to help determine their strongest learning style. We then debrief as a group and discuss their results and share different aspects of all the learning styles to help them better understand how people learn in general. This, in turn, helps them educate/train their clients of vital information/processes that is needed.

Knowing the learning styles of your students is very important. Different people learn in a different manner. An instructor that knows the different learning styles of his/her students can use different ways to communicate the content of his/her class to reach all students.

I also demo Labs to my students. Seeing the "hands on " is a plus...

so that we can incorporate each style so that each student can be reached

being able to identify your students preferences regarding learning styles, being able to 'group them' in a way that they can support each other or complement each others styles. it helps me as an instructor because allows me to not only pay direct attention to each student by indentifying which group does he/she belongs to.

I am a cosmetology instructor and most of the learing is visual/ hands-on. There are days however that are lecture/ book work. This is when it is beneficial to know the learning styles of my students. I can create assignments that touch on different areas for different students. What's great is if one student may not "click" with the material one of the others students who has taken in the info will reach out to help.
