Diagnose and analize the student that i have. And i am using power poit, video, and the test will be mostly multiple choice

First of all, i will diagnose the type of the student that i have. Then i will give them verbal question to see wich area that they are weak in. Most of my questions are multiple choice and true and fulse. I am teaching Medical Assistant program and i am checking their skills. They should perform the skill correctly infront of me.

i am using the multiple choice, true and fulse, fill in blank and i will give them for quizes an drawing and they will label it. i am instructor in teaching MA students, so for skills i will give them also multiple choice and they should perform the clinical skill infront of me

I teach business classes so whenever possible I use essay tests. This not only requires the students to understand the concepts of the class but allows them to practice their communication skills.

Hi Dawna - you are quite welcome! Susan

For my undergraduate courses, I prefer multiple choose test because they can be modified to test any subject field.

My primary criteria is to decide which aspects I want to assess which will help my identifying the best testing method.

Second, I will also consider my students' population in regards to their personality and learning styles.

Three, my goas is my students' success. Therefore the role of a test is not to punish but to enhance their ability to succeed, as sometimes tests can be perceived as quite stressful.

Thank you for the information here. Assessment can be so challenging.

I use a mix of written assesments as well as practical examinations where student perform tasks within a certain timeframe and are graded to a detailed rubric.

It usually depends on the material that is given to the students along with the make-up of the students.

Hi David- Thanks for your post to the forum. I agree that essay requires higher order thinking by our students. They need to be able apply concepts to the specific question asked. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

I like to have a variety of testing strategies to really find out what students know and what they don't. I find essay type questions are a better measure of student's knowledge over multiple choice or true and false(even though they are harder to grade).

I have found that for me, multiple choice tests based on what was taught are the best.
They allow me to group terminology into one section, instrument names in another, procedures into another if I choose.
I try to stay away from true/false if at all possible. I have found in the past when discussing tests, that if the students knew ahead of time that it was a t/f test, they did not study as well for those as they did for others. They have a 50/50 chance of getting it correct.

Hi Eulalia- Thanks for your post to the forum. I think the assessment strategy you would choose is quite appropriate! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

The testing formats in the course I teach is set by the university. But if I were to design a test for my course which is accounting, I would choose multiple choices for definitions and problem solving for the applications of the concepts.

On the first day of class, I give the students a baseline test to determine their strengths and weaknesses on the subject. During the course term, I use take-home exam in short essay format. Students can conduct research and develop their critical thinking skills. For the final exam, I use multiple-choice format since multiple-choice questions can be used to test almost any content area.

The criteria I have selected for testing is based on two things. Subject matter and couse content, and the learning levl and retention of my class. If I have a really sharp class and we move through the course content quickly, then I may give them a slightly more challanging form of testing, for example essay form or definition of terminology. But if I have an average skill level class, then maybe true or false, or matching the definition with the term might be a better way to go. Mitchell Becker

In the class that I teach, overall concepts are more important than terminology. Therefore I use multiple choice and true/false exams.

The criteria which I tend to use is mostly multiple choice, with some true and false and some matching
