I love getting student feedback. It gives them a chance to tell me what they think without being penalized. When I get feedback from the students I feel as though I can make some changes to satisfy their different needs. This can make them happy and encourage them to keep coming to class.

Ricky,
Student feedback is how we improve our instructional delivery. We get their perspective and then we can create ways to enhance their learning experiences and be more effective in our instruction.

Student feedback helps me understand what areas are good and which areas are lacking. If a student tells me they didn't understand a portion of the lecture, I will clarify for the entire class, not just that one person. Most likely, someone else did not get it either, but they don't want to feel embarrassed, so they wont ask questions in front of others.

Christopher,
This is how we grow and course improvement occurs. The more feedback we can get the more accurate picture we can get of what our course is doing for the students and how we can make it even better. This then becomes a win win situation for everyone.

I use the feedback from students in previous and in session classes to continuously change my teaching strategies, I find it keeps them engaged and keeps me evolving as an instructor

being in communication and resolving student concerns will allow both the student and the teacher get a positive response and thus achieve the goals set for each.

Robert,
How do you do this?

after they take a test so they can give you feedback

to have them work in groups

Beatrice,
Good point because feedback is how students learn about their status in the class and how they are progressing. For faculty feedback is valuable because this is how course improvements are made.

Getting feedback is important because stimulates student participation, and allow instructors to answer questions and clarify class content.

Feedback should always be looked on as being constructive and thus help you focus on areas that you can improve or perhaps relate to the students more efficiently within you class subject matter.

MaryAnn,
Feedback from students is the foundation upon which course improvements are made. The more input we have them more accurately we can deliver our content in a meaningful way to our students.

Pauline,
The more student feedback the better. By having this feedback you can learn how to make changes or adjustments in the course to be even more effective as their learning leader.

Tiffany,
This is so true. Often, they don't feel their opinion matters and this a great time to share those thoughts. Personally, I use it as a tool to really look at how I am conveying the material and then I can readjust if need be.

I personally love student feedback. Often as an experienced instructor when you are the expert in a subject matter and teach the same course every session, for years, you can forgot what it is like to the student learning it for the first time. I think feedback from students helps an instructor make adjustments in areas they didn't even think needed an adjustment, and it really helps you be the best possible instructor you can be. Personally, I gauge my performance in a class often when I get the same feedback over and over again; I know then I need to make some adjustments and I couldn't appreciate that more.

student feedback should be encouraged because it helps the instructor to know how much information the student is retaining alsso how to help keep the student moviated.

Student feedback is important. Often they will comment on liking an example or video or set of slides over others and that allows the instructor to tailor future lectures to them in a more effective way.

DEBORAH,
Feedback is extremely valuable for everyone. The students get feedback so they know where they are in the course and instructors get feedback on way to improve their instructional effectiveness.
