Hi Deana,
An instructor needs to be enthusiastic in order to get the students excited.

Hi Cassie,
Enthusiasm should begin with the instructor. When the instructor is excited about the course, most of the students become excited about the course.

Hi Claudia,
When students have an interest in what they are researching, they are more excited about completing the assignment.
Patricia Scales
I show my students enthusiasm and try to give examples of real situations that help them to achieve the success in their careers.
I think that you have to make your course content exciting and motivating. Standing infront of the room reading a syllabus is not going to get your adult learner excited about taking your class. Being motivated and energetic is a great wya to keep the energy up in the classroom.
I demonstrate enthusiasm in my voice and body language. I also provide real life examples for the students to draw on and excite them about individual involvement in their desired profession.
Hi Danielle,
When me making learning apply to the real world students really do retain the information a lot more.
Patricia Scales
I try to show them why the course content is important to their eventual success in their chosen field. Since I have to teach a lot about research in both subjects I teach, I try to give them leeway in choosing subjects that really interest them to research. Most of the time they enjoy it and give good presentations to the class about what they have learned.
Give students an inside glimps of the subject(s) covered the next day always helps attendance. This may be pictures, physical samples or discriptions.
I completely agree. The real life examples and humorous situations encourage participation. I've found that the students also tend to remember the content better because they have a point of interest to refer back to.
Hi Teresa,
I can tell you are excited about teaching. I know your enthusiasm rolls over to your students. Stay excited so that you students will be excited.
Patricia Scales
First, I always talk about my subject matter with enthusiasm, passion and excitement. I also give real life examples of how students will use the skill or knowledge that I am teaching in their future profession. At the end of class I always review all the exciting knowledge or skills that they have acquired.
Hi Evangeline,
I like this! How creative on your part! We have to make learning fun so that our students will better retain important information. Very practical!
Patricia Scales
Hi Susana,
Students love it when we make the information apply to the real world.
Patricia Scales
Hi Amanda,
Students love hearing our stories as they apply to the theory they are learning.
Patricia Scales
Hi Christina,
Students really buy into a course whenever they know that they can benefit from the information.
Patricia Scales
Yes I like to use real life scenerios to connect with student on a personal level
Hi,I try to incorparate games for memorization materials in my medical coding classes. For example, I give a student 3 dice and the total number of the 3 dice is say 8 then he/she has to say chapter 8 Diseases of the respiratory system 460-519. I explain to them that by knowing the chapters name, what they contain and the number range they will become faster at coding and this will heip them with their speed when they sit for their boards. The students get excited and their competive edge comes out.

To get students excited for the course I use entertaining, memberable real life situations that I have experienced. Not only can I share the story better, but I think they students like knowing I have experience in the field I am teaching them.
Students get excited about content when they know the information will serve them in some manner. I think they also like "reality". So when we can show them some of the more exciting situations of their future employment it keeps the momentum going!
