Hi Johna,
That's right! Students get it that the assignment is definitely doable.

Hi Melissa,
Students love seeing a visual of what they will be doing. They are more at ease once shown a visual.

Showing examples of student work allows new students to realize that success can be achieved with hard work

I agree that many students are visual learners. What I have done is to show a general outline of what the assignments call for, week by week, so as not to overwhelm them. I go on to give general examples of common mistakes that have been made in the past. Students who take the time to focus on these "tips", are motivated to succeed and successful in their work.

To get them excited about the material and give them an idea of what they will be learning.

Hi Edward,
I use this as a teaching tactic and have been very successful. Students love seeing an example. Seeing is believing that they can do it. Visuals add great clarity.

I hadn't thought about this until this discussion. But I have had the student experience about such and assignment. My Myers-Briggs is INFP. I loved one expression of this type as "Not seeing the trees for the forest." Sometimes having some trees in our vision helps to organize an assignment.

I presume that some people might be offended, but I think the benefit might be helpful to more people.

Helpful suggestion.

Hi Jeannine,
Students are more at ease when they know exactly what is expected of them. Visuals add great clarity.

By showing examples of upcoming course requirements student have an idea of what they will be responsible for and will also know what the course entails. It also helps to ease their fears regarding the unknown.

This can help make the students comfortable and able to move forward with their own projects.

Hi Nelly,
Competition is not always a bad thing. Some students are better because of competeing.

Showing examples of student work give new students a clear idea of what is expect from them in the course. I personally like to do so to motivate my students to compete and try to do better.

Hi Charmelia,
Students better understand what is expected of them when they can SEE an example.

Hi Heather,
Examples add great clarity for a better understanding.

Hi Richard,
Students tend to have a clearer understand when examples are shown as to what is expected of them.

Patricia Scales

It provides the student an example of what they will engage in.

Sometimes the students might need to view a project or something related to the course. I use old student projects to demonstrate what I would like to see in the assignment and it helps the students understand what I am expecting from them

Examples show with clarity the weakness and the strong points of students

Hi Mohammed,
I have found that showing examples have motivated students and have added great clarity as to what is expected of them.

Assesments is one effective way to evalute students. Showing examples of students work is best way to realize their weakness.
