I have learned from this module that detail is important with online learning. The teacher must be familiar with the software, students learning, course content and delivery method.  Everything must be considered to be an effective teacher when doing online learning; thus, a lot must go into pre-planning.  Daily observation and feedback is vital.

I like the visual on how to build your course and breakdown content.

There are multiple delivery techniques and strategies, understanding these and the course content will help to communicate effectively with students.

Teaching in an online or in an E-Leaning enviroment has many different parts to understand and to deliver to the students.  I learned that we must understand the set up and sturcture of the course given.  I must understand how the delivery system works and how to explain that to my students.  I learned that support is very important to students and their success in the online course.  They need both Course support and technical support as well.  I also need to have a great understanding of the course subject and how to navigate the CMS to teach the course.

Instructors should familiaries themselves with the course delivery techniques and strategies. And instructors will probably use different teaching methods.

Simple delivery of content in a linear format is not enough. Instructors need to utilize a number of engaging activites throughout each module to keep the learner focused on the end goal, while actively gaining necessary knowledge during each activity.

I found it interesting to learn about all the tools the instructor has.

I want to be able to learn as much as I can to assist my students. I think this course is going to help me tremendously.

I have learned about the importance of student's sense of security during online instruction. Students are more likely to do better if they feel supported during this journey.

I learned understanding the course structure, goals, course delivery technique and strategies are very imporant in begin successful in teaching online.

It was interesting to note that teachers have to have a plan for tech support

Students benefit from both educational and technical support. During this challenging time, we need to be providing them with all the support necessary to continue to learn.

I have started to piece together the aspects of my live lessons and see how they will translate to an online environment. This module taught me the importance of delivering the content first (front-loading) and then supplementing information along the way. I also learned to keep in mind that students get stressed out with technology issues and to keep that in mind.

In this module I have created a checklist of sorts for myself of how I plan to start my next school year in a fully digital platform (if it comes to that). I have learned that it is important to frontload students with all of your classroom procedures and policies; make sure they know exactly what is expected of them and where content is located. Finally, I have learned that there is no "cookie cutter" approach to online teaching, each teacher can take different approaches to teaching standards.

Reply to Rochelle Jerred's post: Excellent points Rochelle. How do we create a sense of security and comfort in a virtual world for our students, just as we have worked so hard to create in person?

I've learned the importance of keeping students engaged, by developing and utilizing quality courses, as well as assessing the outcomes.

I plan on becoming more familiar with applicable online tools and resources to prepare me to deliver effective instructional content with varying student learning styles in mind.

It is crucial for the instructor to learn the CMS, have a full understanding of how post questions, discussions, assessments, etc. As an FCS teacher, it is key for me to use various ways to deliver different "hands-on" topics to my students. I must learn everything about the CMS, so my students have a high sense of comfort and security so they are convinced that someone will be there to support them and make their learning experience a successful one.

With new approaches to deliver course content, I wholly believe that understanding the CMS thoroughly can make instructional delivery effective and easier to meet learning objectives.

We are going to be a one to one school in the fall , so I believe our classes are basicly going to be online anyway. So hopefully this will get us started in the rihgt direction .

I learned the importance of being familair with all of he protocols that go into being an on line instructor.  The importance of making sure the students can clearly receive and return assignments, projects, and quizzes as well as particiapte in discussion forums to stay connected to each other and the teacher is a very important aspect of on line instruction.
