There are other resources, but I think that notebook is one of the most important tools. After years of working as a counselor I have a few binders full of information and examples. In order to offer a better services.
I have placed a lot of policies in the Resource Notebook. I have been able to answer a lot of questions about the admissions process. I didn't know that a lot of the rules and regulations were set by intities other than the school.
Our resource notebook include: Florida State Department of Education CIE Rules and regulations,

The resource notebook is a crucial tool for our admissions department. The rules and regulations are always available if we have any questions. The resource notebook helps us on been up to date with all rules and regulations and in case of changes is very important to check it often.
The resource notebook will be my key to organization. Having all of the policy manuals in one place to look will make it easier to process daily activities.

We talk about our various programs and what courses are available and what each course has in it and how it will benefit the student.
So we indeed engage and use a good deal of the terms and definitions.
In my department as a registrar I have several resources combined (catalog, policies & procedures) for all the areas I work in our institution. I learned that when we have new reviews we have to meet in order we get the most of the new updtes and how can be negative or positive.
I just wan to say that the Rsource notebook is a great support for admissions people, and the information included avoid providing wrong and incomplete information to the prospects.
The resource notebook, although a valuable tool, must be only a piece of the total assets utilized on a daily basis. This resourceful document losses it's value if not maintained to date with the latest information.
