There are a lot of ways to keep up with trends in the industry, policies, regulations etc. Of course I attend our quarterly meetings so we can plan and address current issues within our institution and we are always kept abreast of any changes in policies. Subscribing to newsletters and joining professional organizations like the NACAC to network with other Admissions professionals for growth and development is also beneficial. The Resource Notebook is a great reference for tools but must be updated when new policies are formed, so the internet is a simple tool that can be used at all times for easy access to information.

To this point it has mainly been internal meetings in my institution. I would be very interested to learn about more meetings that I can attend externally in my area to learn more about the profession and to network with other admissions professionals.

Aylin,
Networking is a great opportunity to learn.

Curtis,
Identifying students at risk starts at day one. Keeping up with their progress takes effort. Kudos!

Emily,
Check out the state school association as well as your local postsecondary school group.

Antoine,
That was very important for you to learn and understand. Show rates are often used in evaluation of reps.

Lauren,
After the addition of new programs, make to sure to visit with the instructors, program chairs and career services in order to get more familiar with the programs.

I try to participate in webinars and art education conferences whenever i hear about them. I plan on attending one in novemember and I am very excited to meet other folks that do the same thing I do!

Our in house meetings are good in that we look at student progress and how we can improve their experience. This helps us catch trends good or bad early. Going out for education is good in that it opens our thinking to new ideas and ways of helping students.

I attend weekly meeting with our admissions director and campus director. In that we discuss projected numbers and goals for the week/month/quarters. We hear from our directer of recruitment who keeps us up-to-date with any new job requirements. I would like to find out about any additional continuing education for admission reps.

On my first day of work I attended a Show Meeting which was very imformative for me. This meeting went over ASR reports and I kind of got an idea on how a reps perfomance is tracked and evaluated.

Well last week we had a meeting having to do with new programs that were added to the school. Giving us all the information we needed in order to start telling prospective students about them. And every week 3 times a week, we have admissions meetings/conference calls just to check up on everyone and see how everyone is doing and what new updates and advice others can provide.
