We are aware each day that this is something we need to make sure that the student is prepared to start classes. Our standards have remained consistent.
Our college has always held high standard for admission. This practice has established a great working relationship with our perspective students.
it is always in the students best interest to make sure that the students are qualified to succeed. it is our responsibilty that we cover everything that could prevent them from being successful.
We have each student take an Admissions Exam as well as go through an Orientation process where they will meet with their program chair as well as the career services department to ensure they understand what will be expected of them as a student here in school
My school has not only added the SLE test, but also does a backgroung check depending on the program the student is interested in. This is a big help when a student wants to take a course they have no chance of getting a job with. Our focus is educate, graduate and assist with employment.
Yes, our institute implemented an entrance exam that requires a minimum passing score for entrance.
We also have prospective students sign the graduation and placement rate papers. Our Career Services department assists students with resumes, cover letter, mock interviews and job placement assistance when theya re done. We also have award ceremonies for grades and attendance. Employers are looking at attendance when employing employees.
Our college has the same admission requirements but I believe that increasing them would give us more qualified students that would succeed. I also believe that it's important to offer some kind of tutoring to help the ones that can't meet the minimum requirements.
At my school too! There is a script and all compliance issues are highlighted so every student receives accurate information! Also we require students to take an admissions test.
We also have an entrance exam and required attendance with stats to show that attendance=success. Our students seem to take that to heart and those who take full advantage of the programs available are the ones who are most successful!
I don't know that we have modified our admission requirements but with the addition of a new nursing program, we are providing pre-admission tutoring to assure that applicanrts are better prepared to take the admissions exam. This has increased student confidence, especially with the older applicants who may not have taken a test for years. In addition help sessions and tutoring are helping our students have greater success.
There is no doubt that some students are afraid of school - so the quality of student we are seeing is improved, and that may be helping our graduation rates as well.
The admissions process is very thorough at my college. Every student undergoes an interview and is detailed with realistic expectations. The admissions reps discuss background checks and introduce each student to career services. Our leadership team makes the final decision prior to acceptance.
No modifications have been made. We always had an entrance test, an attendance policy and did quality interviews.
No modifications have been made besides doing a thorough interview and ephasizing that we can not guarantee placement .
We have an assessment test that students have to pass with a certain score or above that really is effective. Our Attendance requirements were also changed from 85% to 90% and this is very helpful for students to make a commitment for great school ethics as well as Work ethics and success1
At our campus prospective students must have a hs diploma or GED, and pass an entrance exam to be qualified to attend school.
Not only do we make the students take an entrance exam, but we have also adopted a stricter attendance policy where students are required to log in to their classes more often.
Yes- our institution has definitely made modifications to our admission requirements. It is in our students' best interest to only begin this program if they're academically suited to complete it. With this in mind we make sure to take our student's prior academic achievements (in high school) into consideration before making an acceptance decision. We accept about 50% of our applicants in order to only enroll those students who we believe have proven they will be successful in completing our program.
Lisa,
It would depend on the types of programs being offered. I know many schools use the Compass test to evaluate incoming students but their are also other companies that offer testing services. I would encourage all schools to review the different testing services available to determine what best fits the school and its students.

What kind of entrance exams would be good to use?
