Disclosures are posted on the campus website. Admissions representatives must review certain disclosures with students and have them sign an acknowledgement. Mass emails are also used to announce new disclosures or changes.
Each of students are given a copy of our state approved catalog. For VA students, we also provide additional documents to show how much of their entitlement will be used.
My institution prepares a package for each prospective and enrolled student, this includes our approved school catalog and student handbook. They are asked to read all the information presented and sign to these at a later date.
When new information becomes available it is emailed to our student body and posted in convenient locations. I beleive they read it. We ask that they acknowledge receipt of information and sign as necessary.
Some disclosures are mentioned when the student is signing up but they are told about the importance for them to read the school catalogo where they can find every thing about the institution
The disclosures are covered during the student interview process and then upon enrollment the student signs a copy and it is placed in the student file. The student is given a copy to keep.
Heather,
Marketing materials are key in enrolling new students however it is important that they aren't confused with the necessary disclosures required by the USDOE, accrediting and licensing bodies.
Cindy Bryant
Our institution just came out with new marketing materials to engage the student and try to develop a personal relationship. The material focuses more on the student and why they want to continue an education, instead of just the programs offered.
Heather,
You bring up a good point. Prospective students are overwhelmed when they enter school and that is the reason that I promote reading the disclosures with the students and giving them time to process the information and ask questions.
Cindy Bryant
our disclosures are on the website. I highly doubt most students read any of them. I think when a student enters college they are very overwhelmed and do not take the time to read everything given to them or available online.
Alicia,
While it is often assumed that younger people fail to read the disclosures it is not always the case. It is always a best practice to go over the disclosures in detail regardless of age.
Cindy Bryant
These procedures are posted on the website and displayed on catalogs given to the students. I don't think the students fully read or understand these unfortunately since most of them only want to know specific information.
I would probably say the younger students don't read this. I remember when I was applying for colleges and was only 18 years old. I spent my time looking at their sports images, testimonials and costs. This is when Admissions should take the time and explain and remind them why it is important to understand the disclosures.
William,
Compliance teams are held to a very high standard and sometimes the responsibility can be overwhelming. A good compliance team is an absolute in a successful college.

Essence,
Catalogs are the most complete form of disclosure. If catalogs have been properly vetted they are an excellent source of information for not only students but faculty and staff. I have always kept a catalog near my desk as a reference.
Cindy Bryant
The website, having a compliance staff, and going over them in the interview process is the best tool for helping potential students unstand disclosures.
Yes, many disclosures can seem overwelming difficult to understand for a some students.
Yes, marketing materials are ever changing and a compliance team is a great thing to have so that all marketing materials are reviewed.
Outside of the disclosures that are provided on the website, prospective students are also provided with a catalog prior to beginning the program. In addition, current students are given an updated catalog every award year that contains disclosure information from the previous year.
we are a small school and our bulleting board is quite popular to disclosure important information not only for compliant the rules but also for job placement opportunities, job fairs, etc.
Lisa,
In today's society we are so busy trying to get from point A to point B that we fail to slow down and spend time on the items that can create discord in the future. I applaud you for taking the time to set aside time to review the disclosures with your students.
