Even when I have been teaching for several years, preparing my lesson plan and review every single activity is so important

Every term I take into account the problems I had the term before during my activities, so I change my activities, and style every term, because I learn more from my students, than they do from me.

I will impliment my changes in the classroom to be a more effective instructor.

This course was very effective in introducing terminology and examples of different active learning strategies. I appreciate the discussion of high vs low-risk activities and impact of active learning success. I will began to incorporate ways to make passive learning such as lectures more active by incorporating guided lectures, skeleton notes, impromptu discussions and calling on general students instead of utilizing hand raising. I also love the idea of having student debates as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this course as it is very relative to the instruction we provide at our institution. Much of the material presented is applicable to what I do in simulation. One technique I plan on using is beginning with the end or outcome in mind. For example, in a course where we practice code blues I will begin with showing a clip of a perfectly run code blue (visual). Hands on (kinesthetic) instruction of CPR will follow on a mannequin. I will provide a written guide in colored paper and to evaluate their learning, I will create a crossword… >>>

Providing a safe environment for students who are selfish, social creatures, can run counter-productively. They can see care as weakness, and they can be very manipulative in their efforts to avoid the hard work of learning. I agree that these are very frequently signs of student insecurity--but, in spite of ideas about building confidence--highlighting consequences and consistency (or consistent successes) would be most valuable. Highlighting successes and gaining broader classroom participation are the keys. These are important strategies that would avoid the problems which result in student manipulation and selfish, work-avoidant behaviors.

Soft Skills are an important component to what we provide Intellitec students.  We want to make sure that they have the ability to be professional by showing up on time, communicating effectively, and working well with others. 

Once you have assessed your audience, use your own experiences to make information interesting and applicable in order to hold their attention which will increase their efforts.

Unfortunatley in a for profit environment, one has to treat students like a customer.

I find it very interesting having many minds that learn on many different levels.  Thought of the day Lecture 20 students how many of them did you instruct with one or two words? Any who have a great Day. Positive reflection. Equals? 

As a brand new instructor, this course gave me great ideas as to how to prepare for lecturing and actually lecturing.  I am now, evven more excited to start lecturing than I was before.

Unfortunately, I teach for a school who has all preformatted exams. More often than not I am curtailing my lecture to the exam.

I enjoyed this course as I was already wondering about how to implement online "lectures" so that students could learn and review the material on their own for my math class.  Working face to face with students actually pushing their pencil on paper has long been the best use of my time so transitioning to more student centered classroom work while facilitating their learning was really interesting.  I was also releived to know that it can and probably should be a gradual process that evolves over time.  I will be looking for more information on best practices and appropriate online… >>>

I will engage interact and use evidence based approaches when teaching

I have always found it best to post an essential question or two on the board which tie into what my lesson will be. In this manner I can bring focus back to our classroom. Over the four hour class these questions will change.

I currently use a Learning Styles tool in my classroom, but my tests are not necessarily designed towards all styles. I will be re-evaluating my assessments to engage all students. 

i have learned that as instructor there are varies ways to improve your classroom. the different approach inn delivery as well as planning specific action plans and chanllenges for the students.
