so that your student know how they are performing up to the field standards they need to know they can make it when they get out so this is the best way for them gauge this
The main reason, in my opinion, is demonstrate the progress that they're making in the unit.the another ones are: make them expertise to be competitive; train them to successfully compete; make them more organize;they can see where they need to put their efforts in order to earn the most points.
I need to know where my students are during the course. I need to know where their strengths and weaknesses are. The best way to do that is to evaluate them periodically.
Some reasons for evaluating is to determine the students' progress. This can be beneficial to both the student and the instructor.
It also allows the instructor to see how effective he/she was in delivering the material.
Assessment is probably my biggest challenge as an instructor. My goal is to provide feedback that motivates students. For my online courses, I share a hints folder with examples from previous students (names removed & permission granted) as well as personal examples. These are shared along with rubrics to establish standards for grading. Often I find that students simply don't follow what's been provided. "I forgot" or "can I re-do" are common responses. Quite frankly, sometimes I get frustrated.
But then, I'll have a student respond with such expertise and learning that I'm newly motivated all over again!!
Other times I'll have a student make a suggestion on how I can improve the way I share something. This is my favorite....to me it demonstrates the highest level of learning - application!!

Evaluations are like performance evaluations at the workplace. These tools assess the strengths and weaknesses and points out areas of needed improvement while also suggesting tools/resources to meet those new goals.
Hi Nancy:
And, by giving students the chance to see where they are on a regular basis, they are given the chance to make changes in study habits to facilitate a stronger outcome at the end of the course.

Hi Mark:
In addition, by evaluating often and providing feedback to the students, it may give them the chance to make changes in study habits as soon as possible to promote a more successful outcome at the end of the course.

Hi Patricia:
To paraphrase, by seeing what the student is missing via the evaluation process, we might be able to help them make changes in study habits as soon as possible to facilitate a stronger, more successful outcome.

Students need to be evaluated so you know how they are doing in class. There are certain guidelines that needs to be followed and obtained within a course. Evaluating student is proof that they retained the material taught, and they have the knowledge to work in their choosen field.
Evaluating is our way of knowing how the student is progressing.
It is important to evaluate yoru students. This is a process that allows you to be able to make sure the students comprehend what concept you are trying to teach them. With evaluation you are able to know if you able to move on to the next step in your teaching process or if you need to reteach a strategy or two. Evaluation is also a process that allows the students to display what they know if they need help in a certain area of if they have mastered a skill. Evaluation is extremely important.
Hi Tom:
Additionally, we can communicate to the student what things need to change in their study habits based on the outcomes of their evaluations.

The evaluation is not only a test of what the student has learned and how to apply the knowledge but it is an important feedback tool.
Evaluating our students allows us to determine if they are grasping the information we are teaching and further gives us an opportuntiy to self-evaluate our teaching styles and successes. Giving feedback also gives an chance to offer constructive critisism and hopefully build a great relationship with our students.

To give the intsructor a better idea of where the students are in their learning and comprehenshion of material and concepts. it also gives the individual student an idea of how they are doing, and where they are themselves with the course, material and ability to apply practically what they are learning.
when a student feels he is doing well this is a great motivator
grading can be done watching a student doing a physical project, however taking into consideration the students physical abilities is important
Hi Samuel:
And, it may also help show the student what kind of changes in study habits they need to make to foster a more effective outcome at the end of the course.
