It is important to share with the student their grades when ever they want to have an understanding of where they are. Sometimes it is a wake up call for them. It can also have a calming affect on the student that is always worrying.
Hi Lacey:
Providing student status information frequently and early on gives the student both the information they need and the time needed for correction. Waiting too late to make needed corections gives less opportunity to offer hope and encouragement.

I find students can lose focus on their progression through the course if they're not monitoring their results on homework and tests. Occasionally, I'll have a student that believes completion of an assignment is the equivalent of getting a good grade. For these types of students, they will react as if I've done something wrong halfway through the term when they believe they've done well by submitting all the work, yet they see a C on their midterm report instead of an A.
Luckily, my school uses an electroinc grade keeping system that makes grades, each specific assignment grade and a running total average grade, accessible to each student. Once a student gets comfortable with using this function, he or she can look up a grade at any time.
Hi Dan:
Good thoughts. Also, soon er and frequent is important because many students take time to correct and make adjustments. Feedback from the teacher early on is very helpful.

Hi Marshall:
Frequent sharing of points and grades also gives us the opportunity to offer support, encouagement, along with effective ways to improve grades. Establishing hope of a better grae helps instill treust and respect for the teacher, too.

Hi Marshall:
A god sign the teacher cares about student success is to prioritize sharing grading information. Frequent and sooner would be nmy general rule. How that's accomplish will vary by teacher.

Hi Brenda:
Relating to students and showing concern, support and encouragement when sharing grade information can be a meaningful experience for the student. Knowing their teacher cares gets students to participate more.

By communicating this information, students will be fully aware from the beginning to the end of the course and there will be no surprises at the end. Especially if a grade falls below 70% students need to be made aware of this so special attention can be made to upcoming assignments.
Feedback is important for all of us whether on the job or in the classroom. As an instructor I want to make sure that each student is aware of what they need to do to be successful in the class. Personal contact, as well as email, provide ways to give feedback.
Students need to have, and deserve feedback as quickly as possible on tests and assignments, so as to assess their progress in the course, to reinforce their own understanding of course material, and to maintain a sense of acomplishment and motivation toward the course.
This is so important to helping students with additional support early in the course.
Students are eager to know how they did on the most recent test. As quickly as a six week block goes by, punctuality with grades offers the opportunity for students to seek additional academic help from a wide variety of sources.
I have had several students make a real effort once they found thier grade needed to be better.
The time that students need to know that they are having a problem is immediately. They should be informed of the good as well as the not so good. This information is one of the items that instructors need to keep abreast of as a result of the connection to the class, school, and instructor. This is also one of the reasons 60% of students are dropping as a result of not being connected in this way. If the students feels that they are not worthy of seeing their progress then they feel less like coming to school as well as a attitude if the school to include class and instructor don't care to give me my status as a student why am I here.
It le the student know how they are doing in the course.
Our classroom is a learning group composed of instructors and students, we need to keep everyone informed as to how they are doing and what can be improved for better learning.
it shows them that you care about their grade as much as they do and it let's them know promplty how they're doing as they progress throught the class. It keeps them motivated to do well.
Also if they are slipping they can see it in a letter form and improve before it is to late. Also if they are not going to pass it lets them know that they need to step it up.
It's necessary to keep the students informed of how well they are doing throughout the course so that they aren't blown away at the end if they're doing poorly. This is a good way of both the student & the instructor to stay on top of what needs to be done ahead of time.
Hi David:
I like to share grade information and also take the time to offer support and encouragement. Giving students hope and making them feel like the teacher cares is important.
