I think students appreciate the time, effort, and planning that an instructor will do to prepare to provide a solid learning sessions for their students. We can be effective role models, demonstrating responsibility, professionalism, and preparedness.

When an instructor is organized and prepared for each class, he or she will have all the necessary materials on hand for each procedure that will be taught. Having the labs all set up before the students enter will make the job easier.
Shannon,
To the student, when they see their instructor ready for class with all copies, handouts, resources, and a solid outline of the days planned events, that conveys good organization, instructor confidence, and likey quality class sessions are ahead.

Preperation is key because it helps eleimante stress and boredom of your students. In addition it makes the instructor competent in the subject
Elmer,
Yes, and I think students can sense when an instructor is stressed, frazzeled, or disorganized. It can affect their attention, and perhaps, even their motivation. We want our students to be focused on the content we are facilitating, not distractions due to unpreparedness by the instructor.

Good planning is the first step to an effective classroom. A well-planned class reduces stress on the teacher and helps minimize disruptions. When teachers know what they need to accomplish and how they are going to do it, they have a better opportunity to achieve success with the added benefit of less stress.
Mickey,
Yes! And that's such an important challenge we all have as instructors -- for the students to trust and accept that their instructor is there to help them. I know when students express interest and want to learn, that's where I get driven to really do all I can to assist them.

I think that it increases the students' respect for the instructor. I believe they also gain confidence in the instructor's abilities and see that the instructor does indeed care about the education of his/her students.
Glenn,
As a student, if I saw a frazzled, disorganized instructor try to fake it, or scramble about before class getting ready, I would be disappointed, and maybe feel some credibilty lost towards the instructor.
Barry Westling

It is important to be organized and prepared in order to deliver the correct and adequate amount of coursework material for the student to be successful in the class.
Michael,
Hopefully respect will occur as the result of preparation, but even if that doesn't happen, I feel we have a duty to our students to be as ready as we can, regardless. Respect and credibilty are surely likely to follow, anyway.
Barry Westling
To show that I respect the students time so they will respect me as an instructor.
Christine,
Yeah, it's a great feeling when we know we have all resources, materials, and lesson plan needed for a full class session. More opportunity for creativity and student interaction is likely as a result as well, because the students can sense their instructor is ready for business.
Barry Westling
Being organized helps me to be enthusiastic and excited about the subject. If I am fumbling around its harder to show that enthusiasm.
Eugene,
Our duty to our students requires us to manage both ours and their time. Many students express frustration when they observe a disorganized instructional environment, and it can make them feel like their time is being wasted. That's not a good sentiment to convey!

Maximize the class time to effectively communicate the necessary material to each student.
