Goal of educating students
What is the goal of educating students?
Hi Steve:
I'll piggy-back on your comment about being independent - help them learn how to deal with real world situations.

Hi Michael:
Well said! Something else we might say about the goal is to prepare them for real world situations as much as possible.

Hi Warren:
To piggy-back on your comment, I think another goal is to prepare students for situations they may face in the real world.

The basic goal of education, the learning process, is simply to ensure understanding. When providing education to the adult learner, abilty to become a vital member of the work force, is the student's # 1 goal. With that in mind, I need to direct my methods of "teaching", with that as my focus during my classroom, clinical rotation, time.
My goal in educating students is to make sure they leave my class possessing the basic skills that they will need in the pastry industry. At the culinary school I work at, we are very careful to stress to students that upon completing the program that they will not be chefs. Our job in educating the students is to give them the basic skills that they will use out in the industry, where the practical component of their education will occur.
The goal of educating students is to equip them with necessary knowledge that they can utilize in their future jobs/career.
One of my major goals is to teach students to love to learn and learn for a lifetime.
That they have a clear knowledge of what you are teaaching them and are able to do it the best that they can.
The goal of educating students is to be able to deliver an effective instruction and have students able to apply new knowledge into practical/real life applications. Instruction is crucial in attaining such goal if designed based on a learner-centered approach. Educating students entails acquisition of skills they need to succeed in their career and develop soft skills to be effective in the workforce.
I think that educating students is the goal of ever good teacher. Useing the skill and knowledge the teacher has to create a new set of teachers or students with the ability to pass knowledge to others. This education improves the live of the new teachers or students.
My goal, as an educator, in my situation with post high school students, is multileveled. We are in fact to train the student with respect to the actual repair. More importantly, we are to educate them so they may take any specific knowledge and apply it where the concepts or procedures overlap. As important, where we can, inform them where these learnings might impact their life outside the elements of their employ. In other words; teach them to do “ITâ€, teach them why their doing “ITâ€, teach them to understand that the concepts and principles may apply to other “ITs†& keep an eye over your shoulder as it may just work in other aspects of social existence.
we educate students to give them the ways to live successful beneficial appropriate life
Hi Sherrie:
Well said - this is especially true for career based course work.

The goal of educating students is to prepare them to be efficient in their careers. No education is wasted. Knowledge is powerful and gives students the ability to think for themselves.
Hi SOmone:
So you're describing the goal as "preparedness for the workforce"?

The goal of educating students is to prepare them to sucessfully perform their future career goals.
I agree with this. I teach the diagnostic ICD-9-CM right now but when most of my students graduate in 2013 they will need to be familiar with the new ICD-10-CM. I cannot just allow them to hang with the knowledge of one coding book when the new one is so different. I supply all the information i can on the new book as well so that if an employer asks have you seen or know anything about the ICD-10-CM they can honestly say yes.
I could not agree more with you. My role as an Educator is to help "mold" the next generation to replace me. My students are a reflexion of me when they go out to work in the Surgical arena. I take much pride in giving the best education to my students.
I teach business and management courses and depending on the course my emphasis is different. When information is critical I push for memorization but most of the time I am teaching concepts. I want students to be able to think in the work environment. I have lots of class discussion and most of my tests are open book essay. I want to establish good work habits for my students.
