The goal of educating students is to prepare them for the field that they have chosen and to take it a step further in this economy and make them the best choice possible for the employer to have.
To transfer knowledge. I feel it is my responsibility as an instructor to educate my students by transferring my knowledge to prepare them in any field they choose to go to. As a nurse I have enough knowledge and experiencee that I know will be very useful to future nurses.
One of the goals is to provide them with a base of knowledge that they will be able to expand upon after they finish the course and graduate. If they have a solid base, adding knowledge will become easier
Hi Althea:
I believe we owe our student the benefi of giving them all we can based on our past eduction, training, preparation, work experience, even mistakes made along the way. That's how progress will be made.

Making sure the students retain the knowledge needed from your class for future classes or experience. Focus on the student not telling them how much you as the insturctor know.
Education is the key to mastering something. The more you know usually the better you are at something. The more educated an individual typically the more successful they are.
The goal of educating students is to ensure that they have grasped the knowledge required to apply theory into practice, and to safely take care of patients.
The goal of educating students is to encourage/guide students into being "learners". To help guide them into understanding a concept or new skill that will be benefit their life or career. We as educators are present to aid those who want to learn.
In an education environment, all must remember that the students bring to the classroom a wealth of knowledge that they additionally pass on to other students further facilitating the learning environment.
To give them the skills and experience they need to be successful in their specialized career joice, basically to transfer my knowledge to them.
Good point Bryan. I totally agree that they have to understand before leaving the room or they will forget information or be unclear and lose the concept before the next class. You need to always start class, whether after a break, or after a day, where they can understand the material and it's clear or you can't move on to new material.
To educated students in both soft skills and the hard skills in their area of interest (what you're teaching). Then they are able to go out and exercise those skills and educate others.
To prepare them for lifes challeges in the work place. In the medical field, you see alot, learn alot and do alot. Peoples lifes are in your hands and it is very important that the student be educated in their field
This is so true. As an instructor at a culinary school, I have the recurring thought that some of these students will be the workers and chefs at the restaurants my family and neighbors patronize. Some of these students may own restaurants and/or create new menus and restaurants that my family and neighbors can enjoy. These students not only help pay for our future retirement, they add to our quality of life right now.
Hi Maria:
Stories, past mistakes, situations, yes, students can both relate to and rfemember stories and thus, they tend to retain information better.
Sometimes students will also be able to contribute to these scenario's, which is great when students become engaged and participative (active) in their learning.

Hi Benny:
Yes, preparing for the future is a goal, p[erhaps more of an outcome.
For me, a goal is more specific and tangible. I thing one component of the goal of edcating is to be able to teach my students so I can transfer some of the vast information that exists in our profession, to get thm to be thinkers, to know where to go to find new and emerging information.
If I can ccomplish this, I will have achieved the goal, at least in part.

The goal is to prepare the students for a future workforce and to a challenging career. To better equip them not only for the short term but for the long haul of growth demand.
My goal of educating students is important, sharing best and worst experience in the field is one way to share and learn more from people in the field, so when these students are in actual field, they will remember and say...i remember Ms. Smith mentioned it.
Thanks Barry
Hi Roger:
Yes, you're right. It would be impossible to give "all" I've learned over the years to students in just a few classes.
Helping the next generation of students to think critically, to work with honesty and integrity, and to be given opportunities to express their creativity would be an awesome plan to follow.
Sharing these attributes may inspire some students to achieve their dreams.
Regards, Barry
Hi Roger:
You bet. I'm keeping my own fingers crossed that graduates will work hard to help pay my SS!
The truth is, and perhaps a component of the goal, is to be able to transfer the knowledge I've gained and be able to to deliver it to my students. As recipients, they'll not only get jobs but take the profession to a higher level than was posssible during my years working the job.
