Leveda,
So true. Being positive and enthusiastic makes a big difference in the climate of our classes.

Some behaviors can be picked up through leadership in the kitchen. For example, when I do my demonstrations for the students, I try to work clean, efficient and speak clearly to them. This sets the tone for how a manager should communicate to them (and eventually how they should communicate themselves) in the kitchen. This behavior demonstrates what its like to be a good leader. Another example of a behvario that I model is having the students participate in the demonstrations, even if it is just scaling the ingredients. It allows them to get their hands in while working along side their manager (which in this case is their instructor).
Analyzing and assessing student's current behaviors, positive and negative, will allow me to merge their soft skills into the more technical, hard skills I have previously found to be effective in the medical and any field. Soft skills I may be able to model into a positive behavior:
1)By being professional in the way they speak, dress and present themselves
2)By being punctual on their attendance at the work place and by timely performing the chores expected of them
3)By consistently getting along with other coworkers (students), regardless of their position within the work place
4) By being compassionate to the needs of others
5) By being committed to full fill the role expected of them at all times
By continuously applying these skills myself, I present a Role Model for the students to follow.
I think being positive, makes a big difference it portrays your attitude toward the profession you choose to teach.
Some ways you can model behaviors that will help students succeed in their career field is to be professional at all times in the classroom. If the students see that you are not following the rules, they too will feel as though they do not need to follow the rules. You basically are showing the student proper behaviors that will need to be followed in the work field.
As an instructor it is important to be a role model in how you dress (professionally), how you talk (proper language, no profanity, etc.) and your actions (taking the high road, being ethical, honest, and fair).
You should model all the behaviors you are expecting from your students. Do and I do not just what I say.
By acting as a professional role model for the students. I always dress appropriately and attempt to provide current information that is error free for the students.
Michele,
Good points. We need to be the model for our students in their content as well as employability development.

1. Lead by example, be on time for class and be prepared, demonstrating the importance of being on time for any job or meeting they might have once they enter into the working class.
Julie,
Yes, they can and this is why it is so important to always reflect the highest professional standards and behavior.

Keri,
All of these actions and behaviors contribute to the development of a professional image. You are right about the need to always remember this no matter where we are in the school or classroom.

I think students can detect whether you truly are a professional and a role model for them- therefore just be yourself as the professional you are and, of course, continue to strive to be better at what you do.
I think there are many ways we can model behaviors. Show up on time an prepared, excited to discuss the days topics. You can also model professionalism everyday, in interactions and discussions, by using appropriate responses and vocabulary related to the field of study. Additionally, the way you present yourself everyday is a silent way to be a good role model. Always look your best, and be dressed for success, or in the proper uniform.
You can model behaviors that will help your students succeed in thier field by demonstrating expectations. By being early every day and prepared with course work, you lead by example showing students that it should be an expectation. Another good way to further model behaviors to benefit the students is to be dressed for success, and use professional language all of the time. By interacting with them professionally, you are getting them used to acting professionally, and further expanding their knowledge on how to do so.
Meher,
What a wonderful complement. Keep up the good work you are doing.

my student call me a great role model. by my teaching, presentation, dressing and over all behavior.
Marlene,
We are always on stage so we must be professional no matter what setting we are in because our students are watching us.

Esther,
Little things like posting the sayings have a big effect on students over time. They see your attitude and excitement and they become a part of the feeling as well. Keep up the good work.

Be professional at ALL times;especially with dress, behavior, conversations.
Always treat the students and other faculty members with respect.
What I try to do is put a motivational quote on the board along with my objectives for the day. I let my students know that I want them all to show positivity at school and leave the negativity out.
